What is a cap hold? A cap hold is the amount of space free agent counts towards a team's cap. These "cap holds" factor in when a team signs free agents. If they didn't exist, a team could use their cap space to sign other free agents until the space was gone, and then re-sign their own free agents using the Bird exception. A cap hold cannot exceed the maximum contract offer that player can receive on the open market (as defined by years of experience - indicated in the table above by MAX followed by the years of experience). The cap hold disappears if the team renounces their own free agent, that free agent signs with a new team, or re-signs with the same team.
in conclusion we have no other alternative other than to trade up kmart and nene before its to late and there contracts get even big and make them harder to trade, and if we are ment to be rebuilding for the future we have no option but to get ride of the before the end of the season so we can add another overpaid player but who will get some results
Kenyon is an integral part of this team but I could see us letting him go, Nene however MUST stay.
Our vital pieces are now:
#1 Carmelo
#3 J.R. Smith - tie
#3 Nene - tie
#4 Chauncey Billups
As long as we keep those 4 guys I'm happy.
i totally agree- i never want to see nene traded- before i knew about jr i always thought the nugs will never get to their potential until nene was the second best player- w jr now it gives the #2 scorer but nene is still more important here than i would think he could be for another team
gus how are you saying sad reality- the roster & salary balance is now better- was over 60 mill for the top 4 paid players, now we have the top 6 for the same price- we needed more real nba players w smaller contracts and now have it- we needed a pg and i dont see how you could think we could ever sign a fa that could be a better fit or better deal than billups
mcdyss can help alot- whether playing or in a trade- does anyone see the trade exemption ever being used? what would it take to make the owner decide to go to a huge salary again? i hope walmart isnt doing so bad that kroenke will never allow this again- what if rasheed was available? dyss, trade ex. & picks for rasheed wallace? or would it take cuban picking up a drug habit and wanting to sell off dirk?
if there isnt intrest in using the trade ex and going back over the cap maybe just maybe could we see the nugs use the draft over the next 2-3 seasons- ive always hated that the draft has been passed over so many times- next years draft however seems very week compared to this last draft (of course sonny weems was a "top 20" prospect according to wark) - im still upset about ajinca going #20
