Default Somebody give me a fair evaluation of the Sixers so far

Unfortunately I haven't had the oppurtunity to watch the 76ers play much this season due to living in different time zones. Can someone give me a run down on what each player is looking like (particularly Iguodala and Miller) because I want to know what's going on with all these sub-par performances.

I had the idea that it was just early season cobwebs, but when your $80m franchise player is playing 22mins scoring 2 points then there seems to be something wrong.

What's got into my Sixers?

Request seconded.

I've been working as crazy. I've tried to check the scoreboards, but I caught my first game of the season last night watching Bulls / Cavs -which sucked-.

...

Yes I know, shame on me.

Ill give it my best shot

We have not shot the ball well, partly due to spacing.
Defense hasn't been bad, it's been hurt by our inefficiency on offense.
We are turning the ball over too much.
3 point shooting hasn't been THAT bad, but obviously not our strength.
We are actually shooting pretty well on FTs.
We have had very good bench play from Williams, Green, Evans and Speights.(Marshall and Rush in spot time).
Iguodala has yet to figure out how to best play alongside of Brand.
Brand has rebounded very well, but he hasn't shot the ball too well.
Sam is scoring less, as we thought he would.
For sure, the best part of the season so far is Thaddeus Young. The guy is improving by the minute.
2-3, could and probably should be 3-2. It's gonna take some time to adjust, i just didn't think it would take this long. I think i covered everything, but if i didn't some1 else please chime in.

Elton Brand receives ball in the post, double team comes immediately, rest of team stands around and watches it come.

That describes their first 6 games. Oh yeah, and Thaddeus Young is a monster.

I gotta say, I really didn't think Iguodala moving to the 2 would be a bad thing. I mean, I know he can't shoot, and shooting is the main aspect of the position, but Willie Green was our starting 2 guard last year. And he's just as bad as Iggy on jumpers. Gotta say I was completely wrong.

i haven't watched them a whole lot so far but iggy still seems to be on the bubble a little bit. by that i mean, has he proven that he's a legit, consistent star that deserves his big contract?

so far he seems to disappear offensively a lot more than you want for someone like that. to me, guys who are paid the way he is are expected to lead their teams out of the kinds of holes they've been getting into this season. or if not lead, then co-lead.

meanwhile andre miller is sort of the opposite- someone who doesn't have a huge contract and has 'only' average NBA athleticism, but who consistently makes important buckets for the team. he's been great IMO and by himself has been worth more to the team than iverson was.

Philly is a very good team on paper...they need to be more defensively synchronised.

the guard play has been sub par...its not that miller or AI are crap...but they cant shoot...

Brand gets doubled teamed and theres no one on the wing who can shoot the ball with confidence...im not talking about TY...that dudes a monster...

The spacing is not there due to the fact shooters cant make those shots so they shut down the interior game and make philly a jump shooting team...and when you cant make shots you cant win....

Philly needs a 3 point specialist...korver would have been useful...maybe JJ reddick...or someone along those lines...

Philly will work its way around...they will make the playoffs...but they will take about 10-20 games to get the hang of playing together...until then having a .500 mark is not bad.

yea philly looks real good on paper, but i dont think they hav adjusted yet with brand. Dalembert is not dominating like i thought he would, iggy looks like he lost out there. The cobwebs are out now. Now they gotta go back to the drawing board and come together as a team. It might take a while tho...

I hope this little break between games will allow the team to get on the practice court and find some cohesiveness in their team play,

Yeah only problem is their first game back is against Utah who is 5-0 WITHOUT Deron Williams. And he's expected to be back by that game.

He was expected 2 be back this past Tuesday but didn't and was active last night but didn't play. I think he'll be back by Tues even if he has to be eased back into the rotation. Either way its a tough matchup as long as Jerry Sloan is coach.

It's a team making adjustments to the addition of a significant player.

I had my worries mainly about Dre and what he would do when Brand was added to the mix. He was basically forced into the #1 option with AI and Webber leaving and he never really seemed to comfortable in that role and he now looks uncomfortable playing the #2 to Brand. His game is best suited in the Odom type role, as he doesn't have the desire or really the scoring ability to be a #2. The hope has to be for Thad to continue to develop his game even further and take that role.

I also have my doubts about Brand carrying the team, I always thought he'd be a better compliment to a strong wing player, he was actually the guy I always hoped to get paired with AI.

Overall I think they'll be fine, they're a very solid defensive team and as time goes on the offense should gel better and guys will be more comfortable.

even GOBB had this big rant about iggy sucking badly.......this concerns me too. the trade market is the only way to get our woes done immediately . just for whom???? who is a legit SG thad is great for 3 so i dont think he can be honestly traded at this point. could we really trade IGGY>??? something that drastic or do we just tough it out and make minor adjustments .....
