Default Knicks trade Jamal Crawford to Warriors for Al Harrington!

UPDATED: Trade is official - http://www.insidehoops.com/blog/?p=2450

Quote:

Al Harrington is set to become a member of the New York Knicks.

The deal was set to go through late on Thursday night, but the conference call with the league is now scheduled for Friday morning.

The deal is presumed to be for Malik Rose.

The move will reunite Walsh with Harrington, whom the Pacers president drafted out of high school (No. 25) in 1998.

Looks like Al is coming home. I'm sure he'll be real happy being back in the New York area.

Bad trade for the Knicks, because they should just let his contract expire.

But then again, Harrington's contract ends after next season and the Knicks are geared towards clearing out cap space for 2010, and don't care how much they spend this year.

Good trade for the Warriors in terms of cap space, since Rose is an expirer, but bad trade in terms of talent.

What is with Walsh's love affair with this guy, isn't this the third time he's acquired him since he entered the league?

If it ends up for Crawford and not Rose then i don't think the NYKnicks should go through with it like it or not crawford is a needed necessity for dantonis system.

Can you tell me the chances of NYKnicks Grabbing Lebron or D-wade or Bosh when there would be no talent there to work with?

Just wondering why would they do that? Specially since Randolph so far has been playing some much better ball who could they possibly get from LAC that would compare unless it was Gordon i am all down for that trade!

It's called cap space. thats why they went after harrington to. he expiers in 2010 when lebron comes into play. there trying to get rid of all there dead wheight contracts like rose and randolph.

Why risk getting rid of a player thats already getting you 20 - 10 stats for a player you might land in a couple years? I guess if there trying to trade him why he's still appealing then it makes sense i am just saying there team is doing fine right now no need to take all the remaining talent left and trading it away. Specially if them dealing crawford instead of rose Like Bigkingsfan was saying.

You get rid of dead wood when they have some value. there whole objective is pretty easy to see right now. there hell bent on being way under the cap for the 2010 free agency. trading rose's 3 year deal for harrington's 2 years means al expiers in 2010. getting ride of randolphs long term for a contract that expiers this year or in 2010 is the same deal. the knicks are not gonna win a ring or be a contender anyway anytime soon .

BTW, anytime you can get rid of a cancer like randolph, it's all good. zach might play like this for now, but there is every chance he'll turn into selfish black hole randolph anytime. the guy is a black hole.

Randolph being a selfish player again is prolly on the mind of Dantoni and worked it out but like you said with Randolph you never know so trading him now might be the best solution. Chris Kaman?

Ok i see your points but what if it turned out crawford for harrington would you still make the trade?
