Default Alex English passed over as Raptors coach

http://blogs.rockymountainnews.com/n...nglish_pa.html

Interesting read Maybe Colangelo should sit down with all of the current coaches and talk about x's & o's and find out if he has any coaches with some plays.

It's official. Denver is racist against Canadians.

Jay is an experienced coach at multiple levels, not some random moron; he'll do just fine for a while as head coach.

Denver = racist.

I am looking forward to Triano coaching. He is very bright guy, has great rapport with players, and did a fantastic job with the Canadian national team for quite a few years. You want some who Bosh already trusts, has a feel for the talent, and good relationship with Coangelo.

At the very least let him run the show until the season is over, and they can see what other coaches are available. I have faith that team with come out reenergized and see this as a fresh start to the season.

Very good plan, but what if the Raps were to follow the same pattern as Team Canada? That would mean they would one day unjustifiably fire Triano and replace him with..... Leo Rautins.

I think Alex English would have been a good coach too, however don't underestimate Jay Triano. He was a very smart player and has proven he is a good coach too.
I think he's more of the coach we need right now then most on this site might realize.

Well.. Nash DID say he wanted to play in Toronto before his career ends. Signs of declining for Nash..

Triano has the same amount of assistant experience as English in terms of years but in addition all of those years have been with the Raptors. Maybe that was part of the decision in addtition to Triano being Canadian. All of these coaches will have say in how the team goes from here. Triano of course has the final say.

Someone will always questioned a change.

The article didn't seem to rip on Triano and be racist towards Canadians just more homering towards English and Evans who both have experience with the Nuggets organization...I'm looking forward to seeing what Triano can do though.

BC always looked for the fringe coach. He's not the guy who goes out and gets the guy with lots of experience. A high exposure guy. Is it because he does not want to be challenged by his coach?

Dantoni, Mitchell and now Triano have or had no street credentials. This is not to say they don't know what there doing, just don't have the experience, or the panache to get away with questioning a GM of BCs stature. Pattern, coincidence, I don't know. But it might explain why BC will stay with Jay for the remainder of the year.

Problem is if you bring a new head coach in from the outside at this point in the season you are basically saying that this is my guy for the next several years. Then you fire the assistants or keep them? Eventually the head coach is going to want to bring in some of his own assistants he likes.

You can look at it as Triano being a lame duck or you can look at it as him being given a chance and opportunity to showcase what he can do as a head coach.

We will get a chance to see if this really is the best team they have had talent wise since he has been here. Or maybe they really are a .500 team. If they continue to struggle you have to think a trade is coming early in the new year.

But I have confidence that Triano can improve their record.

It's racism. Clear as day.

Hopefully by now you've realized I'm joking

How could anyone even attempt to play a Racism card here.

Jay is only the 3rd white coach we've had in Franchise history.
