i thought he would have gotten at least 10 mil/year. he'll be solid for them but i can't see them duplicating their success of last season. in two years when their rotation looks like Kazmir/Price/Garza/Hellickson/Davis they are going to be dominant.

Great value signing for the Rays. Burrell has been a very good hitter the past 3 seasons and now he won't hurt his team with his awful defense as much.

2007: .256/.400/.502
2008: .250/.367/.507

If he can keep up those #'s then this contract is a bargain for Tampa. Burrell should fire his agent.

Burrell always starts off the year hitting around .200. Wonder if the Rays will keep him in the lineup long enough to see him heat up.

8 Million a year is almost nothing and a great steal for the Rays because they dont have to deal with his defense.
