Exclamation Nuggets playoff contention

I know it may a bit too early to talk about the playoffs, but if we want to take the cake, we have to think to ourselves if we are contenders or not.

I was just watching on yahoo sports Kenny Smith talking about the Nuggets needing some bulk up front, and all of us here in the Nuggets forum believe that we do need a big man and everyone in the basketball world knows it.

I want to know who do you think we should bring in via free agency or trade that will help us out immediately and will keep us just under the cap or slightly over the cap.

IMO we don't have the abilities to stop teams like the Laker, Cavs, Spurs, and Rockets because of not having that big guy that can post and is just a beast on defense.

first off im not seeing a cheap or inexpensive way of adding a big a level better than petro or hunter or birdman- who or what were you thinking?

i still see it more important to get an outside shooting floor spreading big than a low post beast- we have too many non shooters in the rotation- the paint is too clogged up already- carmelo & nene need more room to operate

too bad both of our wishes offensvely and as a defender couldnt be filledby one perfect addition- RASHEED WALLACE- is there a chance the owner will decide that this team is closer than ever before? trade exemption & picks? for rasheed or even a brad miller would be ideal- i cant see anyone on a rookie contract being too possibe (bargnani, spencer hawes)- i want tim thomas

maybe more than anything right now nugs need another point gaurd- asking jr to be th creator & playmaker is imo asking maybe too much- playing as a scoring wing would cut alot of the wildness & mistakes jr makes as the primary ball handler- again i dont know how cheaply this could be fixed, but i wouldlove to see a push for ben gordon- or a jaric or randy foye- i think stephon marbury could be a great 6th man for cheap if released- need badly to have ac where he belongs (10-12th man) he just is too much of an easy cover on offense & lacks the real nba athletisim to defend

i really believe that the nugs are 2 players away from legit title contendors- i hope they believe the same because the trade exemptions could be the new fad in nba rebuilds if we will just use them

We need to play some consistent defense before we even begin to talk about trades to be contenders.

A real hard test will be tonight for Denver. Orlando's beating SA and LA at home and Denver is next on their list. If the Nuggets can with this without Melo, I'll be extremely happy.

^^They got whooped. Even without Melo, they were right there with the Magics, until the 4th quarter. Of course Kleiza had a lot to do with that, he played great. Can't say the same for the rest though.

This Orlando Magic game has led me back to my first post on this thread of how much we need a true center.

Dwight Howard just made Nene his b*tch inside. Nene had only 4 points, fouled out, and couldn't stop Howard.

CaptainOwlClub talks about getting an outside shooter, but imo we need to stop teams from beating us inside the paint. We need to work inside out, cuz I believe AC, Billups, Kleiza, Smith, and Jones can take care of the perimeter defensively.

*nice to see Weems and Petro- that was the only bright spark in the late 4th quarter for me*

I don't believe there are many centes that can stop Howard. So unless you can invent a palyer to do that , just forget about stopping him.. Plus the Nugs really did not lose the game till half way through the third quarter. And far as Nene he never got a chance. After only around 3 minutes he was on the bench in foul trouble and the first call was B.S. Seems like you can't touch Howard.

Yeah there were a lot of no calls on howard which was aggravating, but our starters played like trash anyway. Our bench was awesome, but having just them score isn't going to win games.

I agree but it was only one game.. Plus I don't believe there is any center in the West that could come close to what Howard brings to the game. ( and please don't say Yao! )

So you can expect every team to have a run where they play like trash. And be ready for it to happen again next month Let's see Feb 4 to Feb 22 8 games ALL AWAY all in the east.. Yep be ready!!

Man we suck without Melo, we lose out on so many rebounds.. Look at how many WIDE open shots Ray Lewis got..

Second round is a foregone conclusion. To say the Nuggets have a chance at the WCF makes more sense.
