Default point gaurd rankings

to me the pg position has a clear cut top 5 along with 6 or 8 guys in a group behind them- i would like to see ateast your top 5(wanna see how posterize justifies flynn at #1)

1- jrue holliday ucla- at 6-4 holliday has the ideal size, he also has the ability to use both hands, and is very good at breaking down defenses and making plays for himself & others- didnt really think he deserved the #1 spot until i thought about who id most want for my team

2- ricky rubio- like holliday i see rubio as the classic playmaker- has special skills as a passer- will need to be teamed w a real nba scorer or two to reach full potential- i really think the personal he is placed w will determine whether he is 3-5 years away from ready or if he is a day 1 impact rookie

3- brandon jennings- i rarely like small pg's to the nba, but this guy is one of those rare talents- speed & playmaking- only player i can think of at pg to dominate each and every one of the allstar games he played- best player on the floor in each of those games says something to me

4- steph curry- sure his strength & ball handling needs even more improvement, but i am sure he has the talent to compete overall- oh yeah and he is GREAT at something which will never go out of style- his shooting combined with decent athletisism and an ability to finish at the rim means this guy is a for sure nba player-hope he is teamed w a versitile 2 like a roy or mayo- will likely start out as a 6th man

5-jeff teague- this years westbrook or foye- will be called a combo gaurd here, but will be an nba point gaurd, anda very good one- teague can shoot, penetrate, pass, & defend- he will skyrocket even higher if my preseason prediction of wake winning it all comes through

group 2:

lester hudson- has the size & ability to become a starter- orlando magic
johnny flynn- a stronger aron brooks- quick & can shoot, dont think hes a starter in the nban but am more impressed than originally thought
manny harris- easy way out is to throw him sg- i see the potential for him to be an unconvetional yet effective 1

group 3:

bouldin
calathes
abrams
collison
hacket
ogirri
mills
lawson

Teauge is a Gilbo Arenas type pg in the league, meaning he'll play the position but he'll be a shoot first scorer.

It is a really tough year to rank PG. This is going to be the deepest class in a long while. Some guys like Mills, Willie Warren, and Calathes should wait a year when they have a better shot of being 1st rounders.

First round possibilities:

1. Ricky Rubio
2. Jrue Holliday
3. Brandon Jennings
4. Stephen Curry
5. Jeff Teague
6. Johnny Flynn
7. Ty Lawson
8. Eric Maynor
9. Darren Collison
10. Curtis Jerrells
11. Manny Harris
12. Willie Warren
13. Patrick Mills
14. Nick Calathes

Possible second rounders:

15. Tyrese Rice
16. Sherron Collins
17. John Roberson
18. Greivis Vasquez
19. Jerome Randle
20. Nic Wise
21. Chris Wright
22. Lester Hudson
23. Deonta Vaughn
24. Diante Garrett
25. Jeremy Pargo
26. AJ Price
27. AJ Abrams
28. Jerel McNeal
29. Eric Devendorf
30. Malcom Lee

The order is pretty rough, so +/- a few spots is how I would rank them depending on the day. I'm sure I am forgetting a couple guys as well.

Go Getter, what is wrong with Calathes being a 1st round pick? In two seasons he has gotten 15+pts, 5+reb, 6+ast, 2/1A/TO, plus this year he is forcing some steals and has really improved his shooting. I know he has some issues, and that is why I had him last in the list of possible 1st rounders, but he has the potential to be a 1st rounder.

I wouldn't spend a first round pick on him but I do think he has a lot of potential.

The problem is his athleticism and his true NBA position.

I agrree with the top 5. really good list overall too.

I really like malcom lee potentially becoming a legit lottery pick. He has an unbelievable combination of size/strength/athletisism, if he has pg skills he's a freak in the nba. BUT, he better go back to ucla for atleast another year. What a group of gaurds Ucla has

Also think willie warren and maybe manny harris, matt bouldin, + calathes could aslo really benifit by shooting for the 10 draft

Top 5 for me is so hard to sort out, but I can't see of any logical way to argue any other prospects into the 5 for this draft.

I think each team could just need a different fit at pg this year. Maybe best fit for knicks is jennings or rubio- memphis could like curry-i like curry for the thunder- holliday could be golden states dream- even the bucks could be building something if they got a guy like teague to add to bogut, vill, + joe alexander
