We really, really, really need to get rid of the rep syste,
Or at least ban the users that create "Rep me and I rep you" threads.
This kind of **** is plaguing the entire message board, not just the OTC. I've seen it in the Knicks and NBA forums (the only other two forums I lurk in :) )and it ****s up the quality of threads on the board.
The rep system is supposed to be so that we can judge how good the posts are from a particular user, but if we have these threads, that not only defeats the purpose, but is ugly to look at ;(
Re: We really, really, really need to get rid of the rep syste,
its pretty much a science that reps aren't really a good indicator for good posts. Especially when its free reps in a thread. Its not really a big deal though
Re: We really, really, really need to get rid of the rep syste,
I think we should get rid of reps (which are a joke) and just leave the feedbacks. I for one like to read the comments other posters leave for me, negative or otherwise. But I rarely get a negative rep comment. <shrug>
It's nice to see that on a board full of little homers, dumb kids, and just plain immature posters, that there are still people here appreciating solid logic and intelligence as well as NBA knowledge, even if I have to listen to a bunch of little pissants complain about me ripping them once in a while.
Re: We really, really, really need to get rid of the rep syste,
I agree. I'm not even joking. I made a thread a few days ago asking Jeff to delete my reps...
Anyways, I know shafir is gonna pop in here and hate on me because I have so much rep and I must be a rep whore, but I agree with you and I think the system should be abolished. It's gotten out of hand, and there is ALWAYS one "rep me and I rep you" thread on the front page, I hate it.
Re: We really, really, really need to get rid of the rep syste,
I've been here for just over a year now, and just discovered this "rep" thing.
Does it really matter? I mean, I come here to read opinion on basketball, not worry about my rep... if people are that concerned with their 'rep' in a basketball forum, there are issues deeper than the needed reform of the rep system.
