Default I have a new appreciation for Yellow Mustard!

Okay so I've been a mustard snob the past 10 years or so using the fancy Dijons and Creole variety in cooking and always opting for the brown and German types on hot dogs and brats. Along the way I completely stopped using the yellow stuff. Then this weekend I was making a sandwich and all that was in the fridge was this:

I was bummed yet hungry so I went for it. Man, I totally forgot what a great condiment this is. The tangy finish is akin to a nice red wine vinegar and complimented both the meat and veggie parts of the sandwich without over-powering either. Please forgive me oh yellow mustard, I won't forsake you again.

Have any of you ever re-discovered a food?

I used to eat Unagi-don all the time as a kid. Then I stopped for about 8 years, and got back into loving it around beginning of college.

american yellow mustard is great, living in the UK it's hard to find any, they have this stuff called english mustard which is so strong and spicy one drop is unedible, and the only place I can find Dijon is at this store that's the German Walmart, called Lidl's, its ok but it is in no way comparable to the great yellow mustard of america

This is weird, because this has happened to me in the past few weeks too. I am disgusted by mayo, so I put mustard on most sandwich stuff (outside of good italian stuff which I usually put oil and vinegar on). For years I was sort of a mustard snob too, bouncing from one high end mustard to another, trying all kinds of stuff. In the last few years, I've settled in on Mr. Mustard, which is pretty damned spicy, but has almost no after burn. It's good stuff.
A few weeks ago I was at a cookout, and the French's Yellow was all they had, so I used it on a burger, and it was fantastic. Probably the first time I used in six or seven years. For the past few weeks, it's been all yellow on any hot dog or burger. I haven't gotten to the point where I'll put it on a sandwich yet. I know I always liked it on bologna, but I haven't had a bologna sandwich in longer than I've had yellow mustard.

I like putting mustard on my pizza. I'm talking about any type of mustard on any type of pizza. Furthermore, I like celery on my pizza, and occasionally I'll find myself sprinkling some cinnamon on my pizza as well.

I know this doesn't make much sense, but you have to remember I grew up watching the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and they'd put diarrhea on their pizza if nothing else was available, so mustard, celery and cinnamon isn't all that strange in the grand scheme of things.

Damn, I'm still stuck with Maille old style dijon. I guess that in a few years I'll rediscover Yellow.

Maybe I'm going a little off topic, but this same phenomena has happened to me with music. I get a CD, listen to it two or three times and bury it in the rack. Several years later I find it and get amazed at how great the CD is.

Has happened to me like 3 times, one of those with "Throwing Copper" by Live.

i used to put real mayo on everything, until i started to become more health-conscious about what i ate, and i read somewhere that mustard was a good source of carbs and way less fattening than mayo. so i made the transition.. i never eat mayo anymore. and i hate when my dad will pick me up a sandwich from subway with mayo.. i haven't eaten mayo in forever.

I've actually done this pretty recently too. I knocked over my CD rack a few weeks ago, and wound up listening to stuff I didn't even know I had anymore. Old Replacement albums, The NY Dolls. I hadn't listened to that stuff in probably over a decade.
