Mavs' 2009 Draft Discussion

Now that the dust has settled, here's who the Mavs wound up with:

G- Rodrigue Beaubois (France)
G- Nick Calathes (Florida)
F- Ahmad Nivins (St. Joseph's)

We knew that the Mavs, barring some big trade, were not likely to get any player in this year's draft that could step in immediately and help them win now.

So how do you feel about it all? Are you satisfied with the picks, or are you unimpressed?

Personally, I am once again very underwhelmed with the Mavs. Sure, some of those picks might one day be solid players, but none of them really get me too excited. Yet another year of the front office screwing around and wasting picks.

I'm disappointed to say the least.
as I said in the other thread, this draft was just a waste of time.

Beaubois- all reports i hear is he will be staying overseas for a year or 2. still, why would Dallas draft him? no way is he better than Barea, who is our 2nd string PG. so we draft at number 24...a 3rd string PG?

Nivins - he probably won't even make the roster.

but it doesn't surprise me. other than Josh Howard and Devin Harris (who we never should've gotten rid of), Dallas' drafts over the last 10 years have pretty much sucked.

I remember Carlisle saying somewhere that Beabois WILL play next season as a Mav.

Still though, I'm disappointed as hell on this draft. I DO NOT believe in Beaubois at all and would have rather kept Mullins. Sure, Mullins was as raw as it gets but he could finish and had high potential ala DeAndre Jordan. That is something we have never had at the C position.

I like Calathes though, I think he can be a pretty good back up PG but unfortunately is it almost guaranteed he won't be witgh us for at least 2 years.
