Default Summer League Roster

That we'll be sharing with New Jersey. These are the guys that are on the Sixers portion of the roster...

Quote:
Marreese Speights
Jrue Holiday
Dionte Christmas
Rob Kurz
Blake Ahearn (D-League rookie of the year)
Gary Forbes

Not sure who the Nets are sending besides Terrence Williams. I would assume Chris Douglas Roberts will be there. Not sure about Courtney Lee and I'm 90% sure Brook Lopez won't be there. Hoping Lee doesn't participate so Christmas can see more floor time.

The guys you may not know...

Dionte Christmas- You should know him. Last guy in my avatar after the owl. Led the A-10 in scoring 3 straight seasons, set the Temple record for 3 pointers made. Was expected to be a 2nd round pick Thursday but went undrafted. Has the best chance to make the roster with the lack of guard depth and 3 point shooting.

Rob Kurz- Local guy from Penn Charter. Got some run with the Warriors last year but from what I saw of him he was trash. Had 2 games of 30+ minutes, one where he had 20 pts/7 rebs/2 blcks/2 steals/3-3 from downtown in 33 minutes. The other game he had 21 pts/5 rebs/3 assists/1 steal/4-7 from downtown in 38 minutes. Don't take those stats too seriously, like I said, he sucks.

Blake Ahearn- The guy I know the least about. Has had some 10 day contracts with the Heat and Spurs. Was D-League rookie of the year in '07-'08. Is known as a shooter as he posted %s of 44% from 3 and 96% from free throws in the D-League. Small guy at only 6'2".

Gary Forbes- I saw a lot of Forbes in the A-10 his senior season where he was A-10 player of the year. Small forward who has a nice in between game and plays very physical for his size. Not a shooter though. Was thought to be a 2nd round pick last year but went undrafted.

EDIT: Brook Lopez will play

I don't mind slitting a team. No point in having players with DNP-CD's in a damn summer league. They're already mostly scrubs so this just eliminates the ultra-scrubs. If you're not good enough for summer league, kill yourself. Supposedly Aaron McKie is being sent as the Sixers coach.

this team is good enough to make a run at the playoffs in nba2k9 LOL
i feel dionte will be a solid sixth man on this team.

AARON MCKIE is a HERO. i wish i could make his profile on nba2k and have him coach.

Unsure...didnt see the game. Guess they figured he should have posted up better stats. He shot 3-11 and had 5 turnovers (only 4 assists). They were expecting fantasy bball stats i guess.

He didn't get them what they expected. Funny thing is what were they expecting? We knew he had a rough offensive game at 19 (he had 9 points on 3-11 shooting with 4 turnovers) and he's a superb defender (4 steals and 2 blocks, 4 rebounds, opposing PG 1-5 shooting with 7 turnovers in 21 minutes). I didn't see the game but from his stats it looks like what was pretty much expected by us. Could have had some jitters too.

Worst part is the guy who was ripping Jrue the most is a Nets fan with a Terrence Williams avatar. Williams had 2 points on 1-8 shooting in 34 minutes.

And oh yeah, Speights is a monster. 28/11 with 2 blocks and a steal. He actually took 2 three points in the game but missed both. Nows the time to see how comfortable he is from that deep. In pre-draft workouts he was supposedly shooting about 50% from that deep (with nobody guarding him of course) and Iguodala has said that he nails them regularly in practice just doesn't have the confidence to bring it to the game yet. Iggy said he's the next Sheed. Hope so.

This was from David Thorpe's twitter. Probably the only ESPN guy I respect.

Quote:
david b. thorpe Marreese Speights started out trying to make perimeter shots, with no luck. As soon as he went inside, he scored with ease. Twice.

Quote:
david b. thorpe Jrue Holiday did what all rookie pg's do-nothing but run the offense. But he got defelctions, steals, a block and a drawn illegal screen ...

Quote:
david b. thorpe Speights got his perimeter game going, and is the best player on the floor.

Quote:
david b. thorpe Holiday is dominant defensively, causing chaos with ball pressure. But he's struggling with how to run the team.

Quote:
david b. thorpe Speights and CDR have both settled into a groove because they are playing HARDER.

Quote:
david b. thorpe Speights-hotsy totsy (24 pts so far). Hibbert hotsy notsy (6pts and a beat slow).

Quote:
david b. thorpe Holiday is looking for his shot more this half, but only for long shots. That's a mistake.

Jrue was good on defense but he had some out of control drives on offense as well as taking some wild shots, could be jitters so we'll see. Derrick Rose had a terrible SL last year and look how that turned out. I did like what I see from Jrue though, looks like he can guard two positions effectively as well, ala Kirk Hinrich.

If Jason Smith was cleared to play with no limitations...

http://insidehoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=135066

..why isn't he playing?

edit: Just read on Iguodala's twitter that he's working out in Georgia with Andre, Lou, and Thad.
