Re: Do you take people who use bad grammar less seriously?
As long as i can read it i don't care what grammar you use.I have terrible grammar and spelling so i can't say anything bad about anyone els, even if there useing leet speak.
On a side note, the best of the best is when a memebr of the grammar patrol sais "Your grammer is terrible"
Re: Do you take people who use bad grammar less seriously?
During a conversation, definitely. Don't really mind too bad over msn, etc though because I know not everyone's using a computer. It's a pretty big waste of time to capitalise and use long(proper) forms and grammar if you're fiddling with a phone/controller.
Re: Do you take people who use bad grammar less seriously?
No. Grammar shmammar. White Chocolate and Gifted Mind have great grammar but they're the two most inane minds on this entire board. Kblaze has some of the worst and he's one of the most compelling minds I've encountered here or anywhere else.
Sentence structure and clarity are more important than what you capitalize, how you spell what, whether you know how to use "whom," where you put your apostrophe's, etc. Guys whose thoughts aren't clear or well-organized usually don't really have well-formed opinions. Not always, but often that's the case. I can't help but take them less seriously. Of course often the most ostensibly clear and concise guys are the most wrong - take Rush Limbaugh for instance, who is nothing if not clear and followable.

Yes, it's a good way to judge someone. Especially if they're using the wrong "there, they're, their". It shows how educated they are, especially since i know nothing about them.
Re: Do you take people who use bad grammar less seriously?
As long as I can read it. Most of the time when the grammar's so atrocious that it stands out to me it also coincides with the level of whatever statement the poster is making anyway, so it doesn't make much of a difference.

In fourth grade, we had weekly spelling tests. The teacher would say each word aloud and give about 30 seconds to write it down. So, one week she gives us there, they're, and their without using it in a damn sentence.
