Default The 50 highest-earning American athletes

it's amazing that tiger woods gets paid 10x more money in endorsements than he does actually playing golf.

Interesting that the top 2 are golfers. There is actually a lot of money in golf if you are one of the best.

that's because golf only requires 1 player...

and then the NBA only has 12 men rosters...

Michael Schumacher used to be #1 in the world, this is a US only list but I am sure Formula One drivers would be up there if this was a world list...

boxers also...

MLB has no salary cap, so Yankees galore

and the NFL suffers because of a cap and 53 man roster...

and then hockey just sucks...

This just shows you why LeBron can never make it in Cleveland. How the hell is he going to get endorsements in such a small market? He is too big for that city...

Oops.

Oops.

another good point. lebron can make money anywhere, so if he leaves it's obvious that he just didn't want to play in cleveland.

I will say that I am suprised that NFL players don't make more in endorcements...

seems like Peterson could take a ton of money from Nike...

the NFL needs more personality:

It's tough to relate to athletes that are covered head-to-toe in pads and wear helmets. That is really where football players lose some of their connection when compared to basketball and baseball players or golfers.

You can't read any emotion unless they go to the super zoom lens in HD.

I know...and that really sucks for them...

and the league is even starting to take away their ability to celebrate in the endzone...

nothing they can do I guess, the players have to wear a helmet...
