The mini van driver should not have turned, it was a green light for the oncoming traffic, from what I can see. That mini van driver should not have turned at all.

The truck did get f*cked up though.
You are correct. It was a green light(if you watch, it goes from green to yellow to red), and since the minivan was in the turning lane it should have yielded.

The change didn't even happen until a good few moments after the crash, I see no reason why the MV should have turned.

It almost looks as though the mini is trying to clip the truck... the truck would have been much better off turning left once he/she sees the mini turn.

I don't know the rules of the road in the states. Over here (UK), in that situation the oncoming car has right of way, which means the car turning has to stop if there is oncoming traffic, I'd assume there is a similar in rule in the states as it's a pretty basic thing. Hell in this country you'd have to go through about 3 sets of traffic lights before you'd be allowed to turn, doesn't seem to be the case in the video.

that's crazy. the mini van can't be defended. clearly a stupid mistake to make at an intersection.
but, i don't understand the thought process of cars that run from the cops.
a thousand different things are happening on the road at any given time. gee, what the hell do you think is going to happen? you don't have a siren. cars aren't going to automatically get the fukc out of your way.
this type of crash seems like the logical result of suicidal driving. you'd have better odds w/a shootout than a high speed pursuit. most cops expect this to happen & just trail a car until it crashes

Sometimes people get away, thats why they run. That same crap almost happened to me last while I was on my friends 600RR. Stupid drivers. Also, if you are going to make a left turn, make sure you do it in prompt fashion. Dont take all day. This minivan driver is an idiot. Did any pedestrians get hurt?
