Why Nets do it:
They rid of Battie who they really didn't need since they have two young players, Boone and Williams to backup the Center position. The Nets get Morrison who is talented and can shoot well, Morrison is in his contract year too so maybe he'll get himself together and actually show his potential.
Why Lakers do it:
Lakers get a backup Center since Mbenga and Powell just didn't do it. Battie can also fill in if Bynum ever got injured, again. Udrih gives the Lakers a true backup PG that is pass first most of the time, Udrih also played on the 04-05 Spurs who it all that year as well with Udrih coming off the bench so he has experience as well.. Lakers also rid of Luke Walton who really never did anything that special for them.
Why Kings do it:
Kings open up minutes for Sergio and the rookie, Tyreke Evans. Powell gives more depth at the Center position.

Didn't do what? Beat the Celtics and Cavs??? Win a championship?
Trust the Lakers are all good with what they have.

Powell and Mbenga didn't even play. And when Mbenga did he was just laughed at by the commentators. The Lakers would be better with Battie and Udrih since they are both better players and Battie can actually knock down a jumpshot.
nets already have 4 SF's...
Simmons
Hayes
Williams
Hassell
with that trade you would make it 5 with Morrison
Simmons is played at the 3 and the 4.
Hayes is usually just played at the 3.
Williams will be a 2, 3, and 4.
Hassell is usually a 2 and a 3.
Morrison would be a 2 and a 3.
Knowing that Hassell will probably be inactive since he usually is that makes 4 SF's that can play different positions all around the court. IMO that's enough minutes to throw around for everybody.

I'd rather have Battie to help mentor Lopes than Morrison

I mean.... you would know more than me, since you watched more Nets games.... but honestly, how many minutes did Simmons see at the 4, and Hassel at the 2? Consistently?
Seems like they have a jamlog of mostly natural SFs above. Williams is the only guy I could see playing some 2 (definitely not 4).
Let's worry about any Bynum injury when it actually happens, shall we?
Mbenga and Powell are filling their roles just fine, when they actually get to play, there just aren't a whole lot of minutes for those two with Bynum, Gasol and Odom rotating on the 4 and 5. Besides, I personaly don't think Battie is a whole lot better then Mbenga.
(P.S. And I'd actually like to see if Morrison can make the rotation next season)

Frank likes to play with small lineups sometime so don't blame me, blame him. And Simmons got to see minutes at the 4 a lot actually, Frank viewed him as a defensive player? And Hassel, occasionally because he hardly played to put it at that.

Hassell never played the 2... Simmons maybe played the 4 a few times... but i always saw him at the 3. Hayes was at the 2 once and Williams is a question mark

Hassell even started at the 2 if I recall correctly during a game against Philly when Carter was out.
