Default My final team

I saved the team I play with friends in for last. We drafted tonight and I feel strongly that I won the draft. But I welcome your criticism.

H2H

Standard 9 cats

Pretty Ponies
1. (5) G. Arenas
2. (16) Y. Ming

4. (36) A. Jamison
5. (45) R. Wallace

7. (65) M. Peterson
8. (76) C. Wilcox
9. (85) D. Williams

12. (116) Mo Williams
13. (125) K. Perkins
14. (136) E. Watson

I don't think I'll be very good in FG% and TOs but everywhere else looks very solid. I think I'm unbeatable in FT%.

I know you've helped a lot of people, giving advice to a ton of people on this board, so I'd like to do a big breakdown. Unfortunately, my hands hurt from typing a big paper, so I'm not really up for doing a lot of typing unless it's necissary. But I will say one thing.

The three teams that ended up taking Howard, Stoudemire, and AK47 as opposed to AI and Yao are definately pissed.

I like your team, I think you have a lot of depth and i love the arenas pick.
watch out for Yao and injuries...I think you should think of getting rid of perkins and r.wallace for someone...dont really like those picks

your main competion should be that bayao team

i'm watching other shotblockers like Tyrus Thomas and Eddie Griffin to see if they are better options than Perkins or Shelden Williams. I like Perkins because the only guy he's really sharing time with is Theo Ratliff, so he almost has to play a minimum of 25mpg and I just couldn't ignore his 1.5 blocks per game when he averaged a hair less than 20mpg last season. In those final rounds I was really looking for shotblockers and I thought he and Shelden would be good risks to take. I think pick-for-pick I've got the Bayou Bengals beaten, especially with his final four picks being less than stellar and if the predicitons about Marbury's assist totals being very low this year hold true. Yao is a bit of concern, but he was extremely healthy before last season and I'm hoping for a repeat. I had hoped that Chris Bosh would fall to me, but he was taken at #8. Yao's FT% and blocks at #16 were far too attractive. As far a Rasheed goes, I am concerned with his production this season as well but his production last year was just too tempting to pass up at #45. I'm afraid that one might come back to bite me in the butt but I'm going to wait until the season starts to get a real idea of how Sheed will do this year.
In hindsight, I might not be as terrible as I imagined I would be in TOs. I'm not going to lead the league or anything, but I think I'll be above the bottom third.
Thanks for your feedback.

i like your team sobe. you have alot of the categories taken care of. i like how you drafted with FT and FG % in mind. IMO those two categories are the hardest to maintain. last year in a 10 team league i was top 4 in every category but dead last in ft% and fg% and i lost the league. i was doing bad in threes and assists so i traded for some pgs which increased those two categories but no matter how hard i tried, ft% and fg% would always increase really slowly.

i think the only two categories you need to worry about is steals and turnovers and you should be good.

for threes
arenas
peterson
billups
jamison
r wallace
jason williams

for rebounds
ming
wilcox
frye
wallace
big z

for assists
arenas
billups
watson
d williams
j williams
mo williams

steals
billups
(not sure about the other pgs steals totals)

blocks
ming
big z
r wallace
frye

pretty solid all around

steals is a concern but I shouldn't be too terribly bad
Arenas 2
Billups 1
Jamison 1
Wallace 1
Peterson 1.5
Ja. Williams 1
Wells 2
Mo Williams 1
Watson 1.5 (Seattle average)
D. Williams 1

Shelden Williams was a good thief in college (1.7).
I'm watching Rondo because he will be will be racking up steals this year. I'd have to wait until the season starts to see if any of my point guards don't pan out. As it stands right now I don't want to get rid of any because each shoots threes well and Rondo won't be hitting threes, at least this year.

I joked with my friends Troy (Rimbenders) and Gary (Go Gators) during the live draft that they should trade me Marvin and Marcus so I can corner the market on Williamses.

I believe rimbenders and anckle snappers has units able to contend for a chip in your league.

i agree. The Rimbenders won the league last year and he always has a great team.
As far as the Ankle Snappers go, it's clear that he built his team to cope with Shaq but I really don't like the amount of injury risk he has on his team: Shaq, Kenyon Martin, Miles, McGrady, Cassell and Hill. I think I have him beat assists, FT%, points, 3PTM, steals and possibly TOs when his team is healthy. He has me beaten in FG%, but rebounding and block battles won't be clear until the season begins.

Last night I dropped Shelden Williams and picked up Eddie Griffin. He's had three great PRESEASON games in a row (although one had an overtime). There's no real risk here, only reward if Eddie Griffin can finally stay consistent. He was a frustrating player to hold last season.

Isn't it funny that Marvin Williams fractures his hand twelve hours or so after I drop one of his primary backups. I still am going to stick with Griffin until I get frustrated with him like last year.

FYI: if you have a spare roster spot and can weather a month and a half without any production, you can probably get Marvin cheap. Getting Marvin Williams by giving up Al Jefferson would be a steal.

Last night sucked. It seemed like everything was working against me. Gilbert shooting horribly, Jamison not rebounding, Wallace getting ejected, Ilguaskas and Frye (even with triple overtime) putting up the stats of third string centers and Mo Pete not even shooting a three.. If baffles me to think I got only two 3PTM from five guys who averaged two per game each last year. To add insult to injury Vince Carter had a double-double, Villanueva had four steals and Brevin Knight was approaching triple-double territory.
Yao, Chauncey and Deron (even though he couldn't freakin get me a single 3PTM) were bright spots though.

with this new technical policy, i'm thinking Rasheed wasn't such a smart draft choice this season.

how does your matchup list show Eddie Griffin as not having any stats, and Crawford too?

I'm giving NENE a chance for my team, if he stinks I may see if Griffin's minutes go up and I'll grab him. His production/minute is silly:

16 minutes - 8 pts - 7 rebs - 3 blks - 3/6 FGA/FGM. Translate that to 48 minutes and its like 20/20/9

Once the T-Wolves figure out how atrocious Blount is on the floor, I hope Eddie can grab 25+ min/g for the first time in his career. He can be 05-06 Camby esque.
