Default What LA will miss most about Ariza

Okay, okay, I know what most are thinking "He's a rocket, so let it go already," but I really did like the guy. He was such a great pickup, and I loved his quiet intensity and that attitude he brought. He didnt cause any headaches, was willing to be apart of the bench mob, and he is an LA native, so gotta love that.

But remember early in the year, he was primarily the guy who guarded the small quick pg's like CP3, Tony Parker, etc. These are the guys who repeatedly are thorns in the sides of every team, and the lakers in particular because, lets face it, D. Fish is not as fleet of foot. These guys routinely get into the lane, get easy buckets for teammates, or get our bigs in foul trouble.

Ariza did a great job on these guards, Artest, who is essentially trading places with Trevor, I don't think has the ability to hang with these guys. and i dont think Phil will put him on those guys, as he is about 260 lbs. He would do it with Pippen, but he had that ability, I think Ron's defensive ability is maximized when he sticks 2's and 3's, not nessecarily 1's.

People have been saying chemistry will be the biggest issue with the the loss of Ariza, but i think it will be his defensive ability to guard PG's. Shannon Brown should sort of pick up the slack, but I still think he is better against bigger guards like Billups or D-Will.

What do you guys think...

Right! Ron cant guard those PGs, but he can guard the big SFs (something Ariza couldn't do). And it's hard to find guys that can guard Lebron, Melo,...
Phil/ Mitch will find a solution for the PG spot. Fish, Farmar, Brown or a trade, we will see. i think it's easier to find a fast PG. so we are good to go and have options to get better.

I wouldn't say Ariza did GREAT on those guards but he did well and better than expected. One thing I will miss is Ariza's defense and timely threes. He was good for that.

i appreciate his self-less-ness if thats a word... a critical element to team ball.

I'm so happy we got Artest that I don't even think about him

Athleticism and speed. Something the starting unit was sorely lacking, and now still is.
