Utah Jazz shooting guard C.J. Miles has a ruptured ligament in his left thumb and will need surgery.
The Jazz say Miles injured his shooting hand in a fall during practice Monday at London's O2 Arena, where Utah plays the Chicago Bulls in a preseason game Tuesday.
The Jazz won't know how long Miles will be out until after the surgery.
Utah opens the regular season Oct. 28 in Denver.
Miles averaged a career-high 9.1 points last season and scored 16 Thursday night in Utah's preseason opener against Denver.
He did very well in the preseason opener. Looked very complete from the highlights. Too bad. He and Korver are both iffy right now. Brewer and AK can both play 32+ minutes at SG and SF if it comes down to it.
Re: Miles Injured: ruptured thumb ligament, needs surgery
I just hope Miles stays in top condition. Injuries are a part of the game and can be a big setback, but it's how you fight through them and deal with it that keeps you moving forward and getting better.
Sounds like Miles came into camp in good shape, and ready to play. But if he can't shoot, and lift weights because of his thumb, he should start running half marathons or sprinting every day or studying the game intensely. He needs to look at it as an opportunity to work on some things he normally wouldn't. Running, shooting with the left hand, footwork. Whatever it takes to continue to get better, and be prepared for when his thumb's healed.

Err.. yeah, he is a lefty hehe... So I guess he should work on the RIGHT hand.
Isn't it obvious why they are loaded up with PF's though? Not by choice really, they got stuck with Boozer. Price can play the wing at backup if needed, they said that he and Deron did really well together during the scrimage the other day.

Re: Miles Injured: ruptured thumb ligament, needs surgery
They're hardly stuck with him. Jefferson was traded for 3 expiring contracts. Why wouldn't the Bucks have traded for Boozer/Harpring instead? Much more value in that trade for them. And let's not forget they drafted another one that they didn't need.
The wing is the only place Price should play since he can't play the one.
Re: Miles Injured: ruptured thumb ligament, needs surgery
Price is the back-up. There lies the problem. 20 minutes. Good luck winning with that. -11. Can we say 1 game they've lost now cuz they have the weakest back-up in the league?
I want a veteran back-up behind my young star. You know the logical play.
