I don't know about you guys, but I have already stopped worrying about making a playoff push, and have cast my eyes toward the future of the franchise.
My top 5:
John Wall PG. He is arguably the top player in the draft, and I am a firm believer of not drafting for need, and taking the best player available regardless of position when you are in the process of building a team. Mr. Wall is an athletic marvel, who may force Devin Harris to be moved off the ball, or off the team. Devin is a good player, but his inability to stay healthy is a sore spot for me.
Greg Monroe PF. He is probably the best player in this draft to slide next to Brook Lopez. He is already a wizard on the highpost, he is a gifted interior passer and ball handler, and he and Brook can form a dynamic big man tandem.
Larry Sanders PF. A defensive ace, I know he has no chance of being taken #1, but he is a player I would love to have on the team. He is a massive upgrade to what we have currently manning the 4 on this team. He and Brook would immediately be the one of the best shotblocking big man combinations in the league. Larry has a nice knack for scoring, and has yet to reach his ceiling.
Cole Adrich C. Bringing in Cole would allow Brook to be slid over to the 4, where he could be even more effective. Cole is an incredibly skilled big, who is still learning the game, and filling out his frame.
DeMarcus Cousins PF. DeMarcus is a very talented and versatile 4. He can put it on the floor, and has a nice stroke. DeMarcus is an incredible athlete, and ball handler. He struggles to stay focused, and has a habit of trying to make the spectacular play, when the mundane play will get the job done.
*I am limiting my evaluations to players I have seen a lot of.
I like Evan Turner a lot. He reminds me of Penny. He can score, rebound, and assist. He has great handles and plays cool and smooth all the time. Obviously we seem to be set at SG/SF, but I wouldn't mind using our guys for trade pieces so we can bring him in.
i would be happy if we draft wall... but if we are in the second place then i would go for derrick favors??? he could play 4.. kinda reminds me on k-mart... but well i didnt see him play.. just stats.. well stats dont tell all..
that would be first pick... and our second pick in the first round if there was a possible damion james or maybe gani lawal or if tyler smith falls.. and in the second round greivis vazquez... that are my thoughts..
we have devin cdr t-will and brook.. and at 4 favors.. that would be great fit.. well but 'if' we trade away devin... then that thing changes alot..
Another interesting thing about this upcoming draft: The Jazz will be up against the luxury tax wheter or not they bring back Carlos Boozer. The lottery protection on The New York Knicks pick expires this year. Larry Miller has passed away. Salt Lake City, like a lot of markets has been hit hard by the economic downturn. The Jazz do not have guaranteed sell-outs anymore. Will there new ownership be open to selling that pick as a way to not take on anymore salary? The Blazers took advantage of cash-strapped teams, The Nets being one of them, and acquired a lot of draft picks for cash considerations.
^Aminu is better than his brother, but his game and basketball acumen has not progressed as much as I would have liked to see over the Summer. The light has yet to go on, but he could still be a great value if he is selected with Dallas's pick.
