Has Chris Johnson replaced Adrian Peterson for the best RB in the league? His stats definitely say so and is better in almost every statistical category. He also didn't have a top passing game like AP to keep defenses honest and they weren't in a position to run the ball as much due to the Titans record.
Yes and no. I think chris's style will allow him to last longer in the league but then one has to take in to account he won't always be the fastest guy.
AP can pound through the hole but who knows how long that will last
How's their blocking? Seriously, I haven't focused on either enough to really know. AP certainly seems improved in the receiving game. Maybe not actually improved, just more of a chance to show it.
No. People act like Peterson has regressed. All he's done is improve his receiving and blocking. The reason he's not having huge monster games is because they don't need him to and if you don't need him to why pound him 25-30 times a game? Pro long his career by keeping him fresh when you have a HOF Pro Bowl QB next to him to rely on.
CJ's ypc is a result of him not having to run short yardage plays...Lendale White has that duty...Peterson would average 100 ypc if he didn't have to run short yardage...
also, 5 years from now I bet AD is still a 1500 yard RB...and I bet CJ will be viewed as a one hit wonder...
I could be wrong, he could have a long career as an elite...he could go on to be the greatest ever...but he doesn't seem that durable to me, where Peterson has been trucking over people all through college, he could go as long as Emmitt Smith...
and yeah, CJ had the fastest 40 time ever (electric) but I was just pointing out that Peterson's time was amazingly fast and thier speed isn't that far off...

Peterson's the one who's got the durability concerns, not Johnson, just so it's clear
To the guy who keeps saying "Chris Johnson doesn't have to run short yardage" ... wtf does that mean? Lendale White hasn't got much carries this year. Chris Johnson is doing the bulk of the work. He has ran in between the tackles and outside. If he was only running outside defenses would know that and get the edge.
Anyway, IMO AP is the better running back. Both are VERY good though.

it means that on 3rd and short, when they need someone to pound it in the hole for 2 yards, CJ is on the bench...White does that short yardage work...
Peterson has short yardage duties, that brings his average way down...
