Default Jake locker staying for senior year

Basically pulling a Bradford. Many had him has the 1st overall pick or 2nd behind suh. This is a very average qb class and Bradford can still possibly go top 10.

what a fool...

and yes, I did say the same thing about Bradford when he stayed...

Colt lost money by staying also, he will be lucky to be a first rounder...

I thought that Bradford would be able to preform for the combine, but he won't because of his surgery...

I still don't think teams are going to want to risk alot of money on him for that reason...

Risky, especially if they implement a rookie scale.

It's a risk, but I think if he can become a better passer and read defenses better in the long run it will be better for Locker to take the risk of coming back. He may get less when he initially comes out, but in the long run this could be better. It's a calculated risk to take.

Some people might care about actually being a good QB more than how much money you get with your rookie contract.

Anyway, I think Locker is beyond smart for returning. He'd be a complete bust if he entered the NFL right now. He's a ridiculous physical specimen I'll give you that but he is far too raw at this point in time in his development.

Lastly some food for thought: Would you want a QB who's going to go right for the easy, conservative choice, or would you prefer one who's got the confidence to take the riskier, but potentially more rewarding, path?

This is good. Hopefully St Louis can win a game and give us the first pick this year,or if they dont win, maybe they wont take Suh. Then Tampa takes Suh, then if Freeman keeps on sucking it up like he has been, we can take Locker next season.

I can dream, right?

I agree with what you are saying kind of, as a GM I want the kid that is more prepared...however when you are talking about risking the type of money that not only could set you up for life but also everyone in your family...and then ALSO the type of money that he could use to save lives...that just goes beyond the game IMO...you don't risk that...EVER...that is just too much to gamble with IMO.

It worked for Suh. If he left last year, then he would have been a mid-to-late 1st round pick and now he's a top 5 (probably #1) pick.

Maybe he's just terrified of playing for the Rams.

yeah that isn't comparable...

Jake would possibly go 1st overall RIGHT NOW...at least top 5...

Hopefully it wont cost him like it did Bradford, but I gotta admire his decision. Going with your heart and not your wallet is something that is pretty rare these days. Good for him.

What about Matt Leinart? He was going to be 1st overall by San Fransico but he stayed another year and it didn't do him good. As well as loosing millions, he now will never get the chance to start in the NFL probably for the next 2-3 years unless a team trades for him. Locker has already learned what he needed to learn at the college level it's now time for him to learn in the NFL, college and NFL are completely different. Everyone thinks that if a QB stays his senior season that he will be that much better of a football player...

He just wants more college puss.
I always thought it was so counter-productive to go to class for three years and then leave right before you get a free college degree. These guys wont be playing ball forever and whats their contngency plan for being a bust/injury?
