Re: 2004 QB class rank
Ben did play poorly in the superbowl, but people always highlight the bad games. Nobody mentions he had a 149 quarterback rating (obviously easier to do with less pass attempts, but still... you don't get that type of rating without playing extremely efficient) in the first playoff game, and then followed it up with a solid game against Indy where he set the tone with his passing early in the game, and made THE most crucial tackle of the game.
And against Denver the next week he played brilliantly again.
Yeah, he played poorly in the superbowl.... but he did a lot of great things in the three games before that to get them there.
And we all know how well he played in last years playoff run. He's a big time player who doesn't get rattled by the big moment but usually succeeds in it. He is the most clutch quarterback in the league in my opinion.
And what he's doing this year is nothing short of elite. He's passing almost 300 yards a game without an elite weapon like a Moss, Fitzgerald, Andre Johnson... and he's doing it behind an offensive line who absolutly is not good at pass protection.
I can't say enough good things about Roethlisberger. History will remember the Brady/Manning ERA and how those two passed the torch to the Roethlisberger/Rivers ERA..... with Drew Brees mentioned somewhere in between both.
