Default Rose is a Shooting Guard?

What is with all this board talk that Rose is a true 2 and not a PG? That he has little to no court vision?

Have you seen this? Do you agree or disagree?

Would we be better off with a ball handling big guard and using Rose like a SG?

Default Re: Rose is a Shooting Guard?

I roll my eyes whenever I see someone say that Rose is a SG, and not a PG.

Rose won the skills challenge. His passing skills are extremely good. The Bulls play pick-and-roll sets, leaving 2 men covered in the base of his vision at all times, which also lowers his assist chances because we pick with the 5 and 3, and not the 2 and 4, like most PnR sets with PGs that get respectable assist numbers. What seems like a small difference, is actually the reason why Rose gets better looks on the floor.

When Gordon was here, the picks came off the 4 and 5, and Rose doesn't have a definate 3 point threat in him at the NBA level yet, or certainly last year. This placed Rose in SG positions and Ben near the perimeter for the majority of all offensive movement.

The problem is that Rose doesn't have a big SG to set picks or sleep in 15-18" range. Also, Taj doesn't make his own opportunities whenever he is matched up against a veteran with a mass bag of tricks. But Taj's stance is VERY wide, making him the best player to cover the box, leaving the screen plays out of his area. Brad's stance is a little wide, but that all goes away when he tangles his right arm into the next guy(older players will play with their upper body more.)

Also, Kirk swaps the point for parts of games, and we have the SAME situation as far as screens. Rose DOES NOT HAVE the NBA 3 yet to get the results, that we would want.

This is the dilema in allowing Rose to stick with being a true Point. His weapons aren't set for him, and he shows his real basketball IQ and vision by covering a hybrid point position. Also note, this is the way of today's NBA. The PG is required to be a hybrid or combo of some sort. A good example is how Chauncey Billups's game has evolved. He too, has become a situational combo. What can you do, the days of Mookie Blaylock, Mark Price, Magic Johnson, ect ect... are slowly dying for PGs. Just like Dirk and Pau brought in new elements to the 7' roles. Just like Pippen brought in a new element to the SF.
If you want a TRUE PG, get a time machine LOL.

Rose would benefit the most from a true BIG SG, and let Rose run the point.

Rose is a PG... we need to get a SG who can help spread the floor by hitting the 3 ball. We get Rose that and a PF down low and we will see one of the best PGs to ever play the game.

D-Rose is a true PG. D-Rose is too short to be a SG. Don't you remember having Krik and BG7 as the starting backcourt. Two 6'3 guards getting over powered by the bigger backcourts. D-Rose is good where he is at.

The Bulls need top draft or sign a tall and big SG to play next to D-Rose.
