Al Jefferson has appendectomy surgery
InsideHoops.com NewsWire -- The Boston Celtics announce that forward Al Jefferson had successful appendectomy surgery at New England Baptist Hospital this afternoon. The surgery was performed by Dr. Steven Camer and Dr. Farhat Homsy and assisted by Celtics Team Physician Dr. Brian McKeon.
In three games this season, Jefferson is averaging 11.3 points and 7.0 rebounds in 26.7 minutes per game. He recorded his first double-double of the season, scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, against the Detroit Pistons on November 3.
Update: He'll be out around six weeks, the Boston Globe reports

Where did this come from? It's kinda hard to believe that at one time in highschool this guy averages 42 points a game.

Celticsblog.com doesn't have it, which makes me confused, what is your source?
Nevermind, it's true.

my brother had the same surgery, he should be able to get back to practice within at least 2 week, if not earlier.
If discovered too late, and not removed this can cause death.

guys... appendix surgery isn't anything. I highly doubt he'll be out. it's like getting a tooth pulled.

It depends on how severe the appendicitis is, kids.
I was out for several weeks. Doctors told me six, but it was a little less than that.
If it's mild, just a couple weeks. If it was severe or the appendix burst, then it's much longer.

I remember in like 5th grade a kid got his appendix pulled and it didn't seem like he was out for any time at all. maybe like a week.

Didn't see this one coming at all, this season is off to a bad, weird start. But at least it was successful.

If Ratliff doesn't play I predict that we will see Tony Allen at center at least once. I hope Leon Powe can play like he did vs. NY in the preseason.
