The Denver Broncos are trading wide receiver Brandon Marshall to the Miami Dolphins for a second-round pick in next week's NFL draft and what league sources say is an additional second-round pick in 2011.
Once Marshall signed his $2.5 million tender with the Broncos on Tuesday, it freed Denver to begin shopping him. Miami was hot after Marshall, as was Seattle. Tampa Bay showed some interest and even the Jets considered making a play for Marshall before their deal for Holmes, according to sources.
Seems a fairly high price to me. A 2nd and something like a conditional 5th that can escalate to a 3rd/4th, but 2 2nds with a hefty new deal seems pretty steep when you're bringing in a guy with some ugly off field baggage to a place like Miami.
I also think draft picks are immensely overvalued in the NFL and the fact that a top 5ish guy at his position gets traded for nothing but picks is crazy. Imagine if a guy like Granger got shipped out for a couple of late 1sts or something. But it's all relative I guess.

It is a bit pricey by NFL standards but I'm the type that likes proven talent>picks. He's still young and possibly the best reciever in the league. Last year he did a fairly good job of shutting up and playing until the final week. His production is high enough for his off field risks. I think he's learned from his past and matured a little too.
thats it for marshall's legitimate career. Miami is a graveyard for wr's and TE's alike. They have abused a lot of talent recently and have no one to throw the ball. This sux for brandon and is good for everyone else/.
South Beach could be a bad idea for B-Marsh. Hope he stays safe and all. However, I do like Henne and Marshall with Ginn as a secondary burner could be effective
Another fumble by the Buccaneers. We have TWO 2nd round picks this year, and they are both higher than what Miami gave up. I wouldve LOVED to give up a 2nd this year and a 2nd next year for a talent like Marshall. Tampa has NEVER had a WR like Marshall.
Now, we're stuck with Sammie Stroughter, Maurice Stovall, Reggie Brown and Michael Clayton as our WR unit for now until we draft a bust.

It's just weird to me that a guy with similar off the field problems (Holmes) can go for a 5th round pick and a guy with great talent but injury problems (Boldin) can go for a 3rd and 4th...but Marshall was worthy of two 2nds. I know age is factored into that but still. Seems very risky. I think Marshall has the talent to be just as good as any receiver in this league and at the same time I wouldn't want him on my team.

Ginn won't be around much longer. Miami's going to ship him out.
