Any big body in the middle could help an nba team. There are washed up small forwards, and power forwards starting for nba teams. The problem is there's no incentive for big men from europe to play in the nba. Big men don't get respect in the nba and Euros don't get respect in the nba. To play for the Chicago Bulls means he will get a 6-to-1 call ratio against him, and fewer shots for less money.

I posted this thread to get some insight on a prospect for my team not to hear an emotional tirade.

I'm not giving you the truth not an emotional tirade. Post players are choosing to stay in europe because the nba is perceived as unfair and lesser income. There are americans big men that are choosing the euroleague over the nba over issues with playing style.

Plus, every USA big man worth his salt his playing in the NBA.

Look I only wanted info on a player that has a chance of playing with my team next year....if you have any info on him specifically then please share...if not, we can end this early.

only seen him play a couple times. Doesn't remind of anyone really, not that that has to be a bad thing. Terrible free throw shooter, not the traditional shooting big man, he doesn't have a long range shot. Normal player. I would say he is not NBA material but then again a lot of mediocre European players go to the NBA.

He's seven foot, can get a defensive rebound, and make a jump shot in the key. So yes he can play in the nba but for the reasons stated above it isn't likely. Good center but not a great center.

The nba big men is like a cup of coffee where the cream is really good but the coffee sucks. He'll be better than the coffee part but not part of the cream.

Athletic and very talented big man. He could be an absolute beast. He's easily better than most NBA centers. However, he is the worst free throw shooter I have ever seen, except for maybe Chuck Hayes.

This guy is a HORRIBLE free throw shooter. Also, I agree with the others here. I don't see the reason for him to go to the NBA. The Bulls would offer him a spot 5-10 minutes behind Noah and would pay him about 1/3 of what he would make in Europe.

He would then be called a "soft Euro" and NBA fans will say he sucks and forever and ever he would be made fun of and have jokes made about him by NBA fans forever.

It really has gotten to the point where it is a huge mistake for most European players to go the NBA. The NBA fans in the US are still living in a delusion from 15 years ago that "every European player dreams of playing in the NBA".

I think Asik could be a very good NBA center but it would make no sense for him to go the Bulls where he will be benched permanently no matter what he does.

Omer Asik has justed signed with the Bulls for the 2009-2010 playoffs. And will lead the Bulls past Lebron James and the Cavaliers and ultimately to win the 2010 finals. Are you happy now.

No he won't. European players don't play in the NBA if they are behind some American on the depth chart at their position. No matter how good they are. No matter how well they play in practice. No matter how they perform in games.

There is a clear bias against European players that American coaches don't give them the same chance as American players get. Asik won't play for the Bulls unless Noah was injured.

Don't argue otherwise. There are too many examples of this in the past. Like Vassilis Spanoulis and Arvydas Maciaujsaks for example. They were better players than all the guys ahead of them on their team's depth charts and never even saw the court because their coaches told them they don't like European players.

This is typical operating procedure in the NBA these days. Asik isn't half as good as those two players were either.

Asik is definitely an NBA level center and is better than a lot of NBA centers. But Chicago is not where he should go if he wants to play in the NBA.

Dude you're a joke.

Dirk starts.

Tony Parker starts.

Luol Deng starts.

Yao starts.

Gasol (X2) starts.

Bogut starts.

Gallo started as a rookie.

What about Manute Bol? Detlef Shrempf? Sabonis? Kukoc?

And many foreign guards have had the chance to start and then stink it up.

Again, you're ridiculous and you are not going to make me angry with your trolling/absurd posts, good day.

If Asik is/was a better Center than Noahthey'd move Noah to PF.....the NBA is driven by money and winning...not prejudice towards foreigners.

"And the Bulls finally will bring in 2008 draft pick Omer Asik. He is a seven-footer who has been injured the last two years with knee surgery and a broken collarbone but has ranked among the best shotblockers in Euroleagus history. The Bulls will get a good look at him at the World Championships in his native Turkey this summer. He is expected to be available to the Bulls for next season."
