I'm sure they'll try to bring him back but hopefully he leaves.

"You know, you see teams making deals, doing deals, you know, year after year, and we stay the same and we get the same result."

And they'll continue to stay the same and get the same result. It's the Jazz not the Cavs/Mavs/Lakers etc. Enjoy watching Deron in a Jazz uniform while you can. He's obviously not going to stick around just to make the playoffs or for money like Karl or out of loyalty like Stockton.

Hopefully they look to trade the pick which I'm sure they won't. They don't need to get any younger. Sad part is they have the same holes to fill as a year ago and even more. Fessenko, Price and the D Leaguers would be the guys to upgrade so they'll probably take a PF and PG again, their strongest positions. LMAO!

The Jazz want to re-sign Wesley Matthews, but his free agent situation is a unique one.
Quote:

Matthews signed a one-year contract as an undrafted free agent prior to the 2009-10 season and went on to start more than half of the team's games.

He will be a restricted free agent this summer and the NBA's Collective Bargaining Agreement is structured so that teams can re-sign their own players even if they are over the salary cap.

However, Matthews has only played one season with the Jazz and therefore doesn't qualify for Bird rights, which allows a team to retain any free agents if they so choose.
Utah is likely to look to two options with Matthews.
They'll most likely use a majority of the midlevel exception ($5.8 million) to re-sign him.

"The Jazz could sign Matthews to a five-year deal worth as much $34 million should they offer their full midlevel exception over the maximum number of years," writes the Salt Lake Tribune.

They could also use their bi-annual exception, but that would only pay Matthews $4.3 million over two seasons.

So all this depth that they talked about when they gave away Brewer could be down to just CJ by next summer if not this one. Typical Jazz bull. Keep Okur, Price and possibly Boozer around while losing Matthews. LOL!

Utah is not an attractive place for big name free agents. Boozer is probably the biggest name Utah got in the FA market during the last ten years.

No it's not. Many ways to get better. Giving players away for nothing isn't generally one of them though.

Looking to the draft the Jazz don't need a PF regardless of what Boozer does. Looks like this guy http://www.realgm.com/src_playerfile...ja_dragicevic/ should be in the summer league at the very least besides what they already have in Milsap/AK/Koufus. His contract is up in Italy and he's not on the Serbian national roster. Still only 24.

They don't need a pg. Obviously the Jazz took both these positions last year so it certainly wouldn't be surprising to see them do so again. They don't need another 6'6" wing. They don't need another skinny center.

If they stay at #9 a wing with more size than what they have(outside AK)looks like the only choice and there appears to be several to choose from. In the second round(assuming they have a pick) they can look for a center with some beef to replace the Ukrainean stiff or a combo guard that can run a team and/or shoot unlike Price.

Anyone know why they said Peter Fehse won't play in the league? He's 27 and should be entering his prime. He can't be worse than Fesenko. Tomic is signed for 3 more years in Spain so we probably won't see him for a while but still only 23.

No more mountains for Jazz's new logo, instead it's going retro.

Anthony Morrow is finding his market to include several suitors.
The Los Angeles Lakers, San Antonio Spurs, Boston Celtics, Portland Trail Blazers, Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Clippers have all contacted Morrow.
Morrow is a restricted free agent, which will give Golden State an opportunity to match any offer sheet he signs.

Could use a shooter like him.

Portland has targeted Utah’s restricted free agent Wesley Matthews who had a surprising rookie season after going undrafted out of Marquette.

Frye's contract is a great barometer of how much the Jazz overpaid for Okur.

http://www.deseretnews.com/article/7...David-Lee.html

He runs a great pick and roll and would be a great fit but with Millsap around it doesn't make much sense(but Jazz moves rarely do). He would be better to have at center than Boozer or Millsap I guess.

Brad Miller and Kwame also mentioned and they make a lot more sense though I doubt they'll get Brad. Plenty of others want him I'm sure.

The Suns signed Channing Frye and Hakim Warrick following their decision to part ways with free agent forward Amar'e Stoudemire.
According to ESPN Insider, Phoenix also pondered dealing for Houston's Luis Scola, Toronto's Hedo Turkoglu and Utah's Andrei Kirilenko to fill the void.

They also considered trading Leandro Barbosa for cap space in order to pursue Dirk Nowitzki.

Only way that'd work is a straight J-Rich for AK swap.
