It shouldn’t really come as a surprise to many, when changes are made, they are made wholesale. With the NBA Live moniker no-more, the guys over at EA Sports are changing the way you listen to their upcoming NBA Elite 11 game. No longer will you hear the world famous ’Yes!" from legendary color-commentator Marv Albert and his banter with Phoenix Sun’s General Manager Steve Kerr. The two have officially been replaced by the ESPN/ABC Sports team of Mark Jackson, Jeff Van Gundy and Mike Breen who can all be heard during the NBA finals between the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers currently in-progress.
The new team makes sense not just in the series’ new direction but EA Sports has been partnered with ESPN for sometime and other EA Sports titles have also featured ESPN personalities (such as Erin Andrews and Scott Van Pelt). The news of the new commentary team was revealed in an Associated Press article about the three New Yorkers who are now doing their fourth NBA Finals together. No word on how long the partnership will last but expect the same great work that they’re doing right now to flow into the new series.
I wonder if it'll be realistic? I wonder if Mark Jackson will be sniffing Kobe's jock and worshipping at Kobe's altar all game long. And I wonder if Van Gundy will go on those long whiny sessions in his high pitched nasaly voice?
