Default "New" Mortal Kombat Game

Quote:
Although many of you might have been disappointed to hear that this week's Mortal Kombat clip was only a movie pitch, this news is sure to please MK fans and fighting fans from here to Timbuktu.

Ahead of next week's trade show, E3, Warner Bros today announced the latest iteration in their Mortal Kombat franchise which they're calling the "most brutal" one to date - and judging by the trailer, that doesn't seem far off.

Being developed by NetherRealm Studios, who are headed up by famed MK creator Ed Boon, the title they're billing as just "Mortal Kombat" will not only feature up to 4 player tag-team, but will also include a two player "Co-Op Arcade Mode," as well of the traditional versus modes.

The 2D fighter not only welcomes back Fatalities - which are more gory than ever - and is driven by an all new graphics engine, but Warner are saying that it is the "deepest story mode of any fighting game" - although, they don't have much competition there.

"This game really is a response to what players have been demanding: mature presentation, reinvented 2D fighting mechanic and the best, most gruesome fatalities ever!" said Boon.

Mortal Kombat is due for release in 2011. Now, get over here watch the trailer.

Holy f*cking shit!

Looks like they went back to their roots. Now that's how you do a 2D game in this generation! I'm itching for a new Mortal Kombat.

I heard MK9 was supposed to be released this year? They've been working on it since MK Vs. DC came out. Who knows, it still may come out this year. Early next year wouldn't bother me that bad.

If anyone's interested, check this site out for more details on the new Mortal Kombat.

http://wildgunmen.com/blog/2010/06/1...mortal-kombat/

Also, TRMK.org will be posting all the updates they find on this game. They're saying this game will have 26 characters+DLC characters to be added. This may be the best Mortal Kombat game ever. I'm looking forward to owning people with Sektor, Night Wolf, and hopefully Kabal.

Skip to 2:00 for some more hat slicing action. It shows the one of his fatalities.

Fantastic...UMK3 is still one of my favorite games of all time. ScrewAttack did a hands on video, I haven't seen it yet, but I think there's a fatality reel. Here it is:

Edit: Yep, they go over some of them quickly, but they're there.

The game looks awesome, and had I been at E3, I would've met Ed Boon. My boss facebooked it the second it happened.

The game looks good, nice for it to come back to 2d with the juggles and all.

I do like to point out that the characters look stiff moving around. It does look a lot like the old UMK3 presentation wise.

I would've loved a more darker / mature presentation. Then again, the ridiculousness of MK actually makes it a lot of fun.

That's exactly the direction that MK is going in right now. What makes you think it's not going in that direction from what you watched? It clearly is, and Ed Boon keeps stressing that.

EDIT: Watch this video all the way through.(Everyone for that matter, should watch this video. First video demoing the game)http://e3.gamespot.com/video/6266626...7#toggle_video

You have the wrong impression of the game, completely. The character movement looks fluid. It's darker than ever and definitely for the mature audience.

One new previously unknown bit was revealed. There will be a system of respect points in the multiplayer mode of the game. It sounded that other players spectating your fight can reward you respect for doing well, etc. These points will work towards Achievements and Trophies along with other things, Ed said.

I'm very excited about this game and happy that the MK series is on the right path again. I haven't played the last few MK games, don't really play games as much anymore. This brings back memories though. MK II was my game.

This game will without a doubt be the best MK game since MK 3.
but I understand Gasolina

Remember when Sub Zero looked like this?

I miss that 'realistic' style.. eventhough the game looked great, they still have characters running around like it's carnival... and they're still superbuffed and all.

look at what they did to Liu Kang over the years..
