Anyone following the Cavs team board knows that I'm skeptical that the Cavs have the talent to take the title. I have said before, I think anything is possible, they could go into the playoffs inspired and play the best basketball of their life. Hell, they're real close to going 5-2 right now and they're playing like crap.
But it struck me in the Portland game (that I'm still watching as I post this), that the Cavs are nothing without Lebron.
They had a big lead over Portland, Brown gives Lebron a rest on the bench, and all the sudden they start settling for outside shots and Portland makes a run. Then they put Lebron back in. In the 4TH QUARTER WITH A 15 POINT LEAD!
If Lebron can't get a rest in the 4th quarter of a game that we're up 15 or even 20 at one point, then we're screwed.
I think Mike Brown needs to suck it up and let the team play a little without Lebron in games like this.
Do you see where I'm coming from? The Cavs need to find a second option fast.
Imagine if they did that they might lose a lot of games. This team is built around lebron without him they are nothing. But I do get your point. It is a pretty good point it just you dont want to risk it in the season he should have done that like in the preseason or something. But not in the regular season. It is to important to be messing around with stuff like that.

I said it in the rookie's thread, and I'll say it again here. If they don't rest Lebron, he's going to go down hurt. He played outrageous minutes in last years playoffs, didn't get the summer off because of USA basketball, and now is still having to average 41 minutes per game in the first 7 games of the season.
And you're right. The Cavs can't win without him. Which is why they're not going to win the Championship this year.
Lebron's a cyborg sent back in time from the future to play the game of basketball. The only reason he doesn't play the full 48 is so that no one will realise this.
Lebron is a superb atlethe and could play all the minutes you want always at a great level but indeed the Cavs build their team around him and the other guys are just role players with a lot of limitations...
In my view Cavs to be real contenders needed 2-3 players that could make the difference in defense and specially in offense.
Lebron rarely ever gets hurt. I think he had his first injury last year and i was an ankle sprain. Basically, the team needs him as their crutch, and so it's hard to rest him. It's like when you put AI on the bench for the sixers. The whole dimension of the game changes.

Bench LeBron? While youre at it, go to the Lakers forum, and tell them to bench Kobe. Tell the Heat to bench Wade, the Celtics to bench PP, and the Sonics to bench Ray Allen. The minute the Cavs start THINKING about benching LBJ, will be the same exact minute LBJ demands a trade. Dont be an idiot.

Now you guys are just being ridiculous. I'm not saying sit him down for whole games, I'm saying he needs to get less minutes.
And if everything that I hear about Lebron is true, yeah it might rankle that he has to sit the bench a little, but if he sees it as the good of the team, then he'd accept it.
Lebron's easily having his best season, saving himself for 4th quarters, so why not get him a rest in the early goings?
And if the Lakers had benched Kobe, maybe he would have come back in better conditioning after the knee surgery.
The Suns benched Amare for his own good last year, and they made a title run.

First thing Cleveland is not good when Lebron sits. He is the star he doesn't want to sit. So why worry. By the way Lebron is 21 and built like a tank. Wade is not close to the physical body of Lebron. Wade needs rest. It shows. Lebrons game isn't affected and it was the of course he would get rest. Phoenix has a team built around no one. Amare is the most talented offensively on the team, but the reason why phoenix can win games without him is because of Steve Nash. MVP he is.

The reason that the Suns benched Amare Stoudamire was because he was already injured, and didnt want to risk losing him even longer, that is not the case with LeBron. LBJ is arguably the best player in the league, and maybe he DOES need less minutes. However, if you bench him in the early going, guess what buddy, itll be a blowout against the Cavs by the time they get to the 4th quarter. Benching LBJ is not going to do any good.

Well, here's what I see. Lebron wants a championship. Lebron's playing crazy minutes and the Cavs are losing against easy teams. Not only that, but he's finding open team mates all night long and they are not making their shots. We resigned Coach Brown, and he revamped the offense to a motion offense that has Z looking lost. We resigned Drew Gooden for three more frig'n years, and he sucks as bad as he did last year. We lost Flip Murray.
If I'm Lebron, and I'm looking to win, I'm not happy with what I'm seeing. Cleveland hasn't been very impressive lately, even in their wins. If they play like this all year, he's going to want to leave, I guarantee.
The East is soft this year, and the Cavs are playing soft.
And if benching Lebron early in the game is going to cause a blowout? Then he's DEFINITELY going to want to leave.
