Default Sonics fast break: Weekly look

This Week’s Opponents
New Jersey: After posting a 119-113 win in New Jersey in the first meeting, the Sonics will look to close out the sweep with a win tonight. Seattle has won a road game against the Nets in 14 different seasons, with 11 of those years ending in Sonics sweeps. In the first meeting this season, Luke Ridnour poured in a career-high 32 points as Seattle built a big lead early and held on for the win. The Sonics are 42-24 all-time against the Nets, including a 25-8 (.758) mark at home.

L.A. Clippers: The Clippers enter this week’s matchup having won five of the last seven meetings with the Sonics, a stark contrast to previous years. Beginning with the 1990-91 campaign, the Sonics won 14 consecutive season series from the Clippers, compiling a 50-10 record over that span. Last year, the Sonics went 1-3 against the Clippers, getting swept in Seattle for the first time in 36 years. The Sonics lead the all-time series 112-55.

Sacramento: The Kings won three of four from the Sonics last season, though the teams have been very evenly matched over the last decade. Each team has won 20 of the 40 meetings played over the last 10 seasons. Home court advantage has always played an important role in Sonics-Kings matchups. The Sonics have won at least one home game against the Kings in each of the last six seasons and in 36 of 39 seasons overall.

San Antonio: The Sonics went 1-2 against the Spurs last season, with the lone victory coming on Ray Allen’s game-winning three with 5.4 seconds remaining on 3/26/06. The Sonics shot 48.6 percent from behind the arc against the Spurs last season, led by Allen and Luke Ridnour, who shot a combined 13-for-18 (.722) from long range. The Sonics own a 40-21 all-time advantage in Seattle but trail 66-58 in the all-time series overall.
