so i'm watching dalton attempt to play bond, and he has pretty much killed 100% of the appeal of the role. he's inept, spends the whole movie pining after a single woman (can you see roger moore or connery doing that?), no trademark witticisms...
what exactly was he doing? how did this dude get a second movie? he's worse than george lazenby ffs.
Yeah, those Timothy Dalton ones are really among the worst, but he ruined the franchise? You didn't like Brosnan eh? Brosnan was a fine Bond after that I thought. Not as great as Moore or Connery, but solid. The material he had to work with wasn't all that great.
This new Bond is in Dalton territory. Don't know what they were thinking with the new guy and the new style.

brosnan was good for goldeneye, but beyond that? hot, steaming garbage. the stench emanating from his performances was enough to burn nose hairs.
goldeneye was a great bond film, top 5 for me. nostalgia plays a part though obviously.
so no he didn't ruin the franchise, but he slowed it down alot.
goldeneye was an aberration; since then 100% of the films have been crap. prior to dalton, bond had a 70% entertainment hit rate. so yes, he did ruin the franchise.
I didn't mind Licence to Kill, it was one of the more violent Bond films at the time. With that being said he's still my least favourite Bond after Lazenby.
He was going to get a 3rd movie as Bond, but there was some sort of legal dispute that stopped them from making another one for 6 years.
