I looked him up, he seemed to be a rapper first. It goes back to his childhood. His mother or grandmother or whatever got on him when he was a kid about using profanity in his lyrics. So he stopped.

It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure DJ JaZy Jeff and the Fresh Prince didn't use much or any profanity at all in their raps.
