Default "Romo is arguably the second most important player in the NFL"

-ISH Cowboys fan after Romo went down.

Record with Romo...1-4

Record without Romo and a presumably dead John Kitna....4-5

its a lot easier to win when you OC stops tanking the season to get the HC fired...

Yeah that was a dumb statement. But I was just looking at the team stats and Dallas gives up 28 pts a game.

Troy doesn't start and we lose a game in which nobody on defense could make a play. Shocking.

I would say he's arguable the second most important but its tough to say that about a non-QB because of how important top level QBs are to their teams.

I know right? After three years of not running the ball, NOW the cowboys have balance.

I remember that...and sticking up for whoever said it when you said something like "I've heard it all now, dumbest thing ever...ect"

obviously that statement stuck to you...

whoever made that statement did so thinking that Kitna was the one we saw in preseason and the team still wasn't "trying"...

if you think this team can go just as far with Kitna as they can with Romo you are fooling yourself...Kitna has exceeded expectations by far but he still is no Romo...

it is a QB

Romo might not be second but he isn't far down the list...

Peyton, Brady, probably Vick now...and Ryan

Flynn looked pretty good...not sure Rodgers would be above Romo/Kitna

Steelers were doing good without Ben

not sure about the backup for Schaub but he is average anyway

Romo might be exactly where he is ranked as a QB....around 6-8

You know what, I forgot Romo was a QB thanks for reminding me. I get he's important as are all good QBs but he definitely not the second most important player to his team. I might even put someone like CJ or MJD ahead of Romo because of how much their teams are carried upon their shoulders.

Schaub's backups either 1) can't find their helmet when they need to go in or 2) have the name Matt Leinart. They might never win a game if he got hurt.

I wasn't pointing out that Romo is a QB I was agreeing that the 2nd most important player WOULD be a QB...lol

yeah dude, Romo plays QB...

I bet there are Titans fans that would even say Vince is more important than CJ...

I really don't watch enough Jags to comment on MJD but I am willing to bet they would be worse off losing Garrard than him...

Idk without those two players those teams are mediocre across the board, would have no offensive identity, and both have mediocre or bad defenses. The nature of the QB position makes it hard to replace a starter and its the most important position in football but their are some teams that are an exception.

How about Rivers? Hard to imagine the chargers offense would move the way they do without him throwing the ball.

yeah Rivers too...depending on his backup...

this thread is really much more about the backup QB...

whatever Boys fan that was was just wrong about Kitna, not Romo...Kitna is WAY better than most thought he was going to be...

maybe Romo isn't as important because of that but we all thought we were going to see Brad Johnson 2.0

honestly the Dallas turn around is more about the entire team in general than either QB...if they would have been playing like this with Romo he would have won games too...

the only Jags game I have seen this year was vs. Dallas and it was Garrard that had a career day, not MJD...

maybe Troy is more important than Ben but I think you would agree that it is super f*cking rare...honestly Troy might be the greatest Safety in the history of the NFL...that one just isn't the norm at all

Peterson is certainly more important than Favre at this point...

maybe like Fitz or whoever is doing good on the Panthers just cause they have no QB...

Bradford might be #1...HA!!!
