Chance to get away. I felt like they were at home way too long. 7 consecutive away games from home! These are usually those types of trips where they put together a nice run and figure things out. I like them playing on the road better than at home to be honest. This will be good for them.
the upcoming opponents are:
Sat 05, @ NOH
Mon 07, @ Memphis
Thu 10, @ Boston
Fri 11, @ NYK
Sun 13 @ Orl
Fri 25, @ Charlotte
Sun 27, @ Cleveland
The lakers have a tough 3 games as they come to face 3 great eastern conference teams as they start off with the hated Boston celtics, fly to New York the same night and play the knicks the next day, and get only 1 day off as they face a tough Orlando squad who just made a big trade.
I think a 4-3 record would show signs of improvement, however to get back on track, this team needs to go 5-2 as this may be their toughest road trip all season long.
The thoughts that come to me about this road trip are the 6 games that lakers won consecutively in the 09-10 season which included Boston and Cleveland and when they walked away from that road trip undefeated, I knew this team would be ready for the playoffs. Here's hoping that they can do some soul searching and figure things out away from Hollywood. Like I said, they've been here way too long. Get em out of LA for now!
Looks like this is where we will find out where the Lakers stand so far into this season. This will be maybe the most brutal few weeks of the season (not the toughest but the most brutal/tiresome). If we can at least go .600, I will be more than happy.
If the Lakers are alert, aware, motivated, and hungry, then the only team they should worry about is the Celtics. Those other teams shouldn't have any shot against the Lakers what so ever. That is only if the Lakers play the way they did against the Spurs last night.
Lakers had an off night, but they showed heart....and that usually overcomes bad shooting nights, etc.
I don't think the Lakers or Lakers fans should complain about having a tough schedule. All it really does is make them stronger and better mentally. They need this, IMO. Lakers are only motivated when they play against the more elite teams. They will able to play these elite and high leveled teams on a consistent basis these next two months.
All of this will just make them play hungry as a habit, instead of just turning it on and off like they have in the past two seasons.
SoCal says I have to stay positive until the meds kick in so......7-0 Ladies and Gents
This team is ready to roll....
Hey SoCal I changed a couple of the words but that was the script you emailed me from the Hotline the other night. I will keep an eye on the mail for my check.
painkillers/opiates? Anyways I'm looking forward to this memphis game tonight.. finally in a manageable time slot for my time zone as well (8:00pm eastern). I bet it's going to be a close one regardless though, Memphis plays us well, and the Lakers always seem to find a way to keep their minds in it during games like teams like Memphis and Indiana (intentionally keep the score close).
