Today's game was inexcusable. We were being destroyed from top to bottom. How do we lose to this team twice? Let's not hit the panic button so quickly on our big 3 being a fraud, but begin to push buttons on removing our coach and our stragedy to winning games. Melo/Amare/Billups had a good game. Yes there should of been shots made by them but failed. Billups did chuck way to many threes but I rather have him do that then anyone on the team.
Let's talk about leadership. Billups single handidly got the Knicks back in the game. With baskets that were chucked behind the arc he made up for it by forcing fouls on the opposition. I think Chauncey did a B+ on leadership. What could of been done to improve his leadership? Being verbal and getting his team mates into it. Melo has no leadership or so from what I've seen in my perspectives. Amare seems to have little care with the way he's showing his emotions either from being technical prone or just the feeling being dominant by the leaderless cavs. Fields was awfully quiet. Did trading Felton hurt Fields because of transition being lacked in Billups's game? Seems like it. We can't continue to be blind and reckless/careless leaving defensive/offensive rebounds up for grabs. We were being bodied by people who should be having problems rebounding because were so "good offensively".
Enough said. Our coach has to go. Question is how Knicks fans? I love that were losing because it brings out our flaws that we have to work on but it's the fustration. What if we allowed someone like Sheldon Williams playing would this have helped? Mike has to seriously allow rotation. Balkman is good I see force on the court when he's there defensively. Another thing we have to work on is foul trouble. How did Billups pick up 2 quick fouls? Melo? We can't have that. Something that's been creeping me out is management not getting involved in removing the coach.
This is the first two games and we do have a young start. We can still make changes by bringing guys and changing our rotation. I love that Billups brings veteran leadership to our team more then anything. I'd give that up for any role player because without that melo and amare would have nothing to feed off of.
i think we need a new coach if we want to ever get better, this team looks exactly the same as it was b4 the trade,
i watched the nugget game, gallo/chandler was beasting
however felton coughed up that game with his typical "do not trust teammate" mode. i do not miss him at all.
billups was great for us, love that leadership he brings.
another issue i see is fields -> this new iso ball has made him innefective and makes him just a spot up shooter.
what made fields more effective was constant movement, passing hte ball and fields would run around.
I felt D'antoni should have given Balkman some of Douglas minutes, since Douglas shot was off.
Bottom line the Knicks had their pace, put up their normal shots and missed over 50 of them.
It's only the second game together, they will figure it out though.
We do have a glaring need at Center.
Turiaf can't go for more than 25, we need some help bad.
It's an effort but it's also a lack of size.
What the coach has to do with that ?
He needs to force them to rebound and defend but he doesn't do that.
If someone doesn't even try on defense, put him on the bench,he will play defense next time.
But he is OK with not playing defense and that's where he fails.
Remember that Miami was 9-8 and everyone was pushing the panic button. The only time that guys of this ability and experience get to play with one another is in an All Star game or World Championship/Olympic games. Everything sounds good in theory with how they will work together BUT principles needs to be applied to make the theory work. I still say to give Shelden Williams more time since he is somewhat of a bruiser. The Knicks needs a space eater in the middle; someone that the other team has to put a body on for the purposes of keeping him from rebounding or scoring. Rony is energy; that's it. He is a rah-rah guy that will get you 4pts and 4rbs per game on average and I think that Shelden can give us more than that. Problem is that D'Antoni's philosophy is to outshoot and outscore you. How many times have you heard from him "We weren't making shots." or "If we make shots." You know a "Dennis Rodman" type of player would work in this system if he won't go traditional and likes to play STAT at the center position. The thing is that Dennis could guard PFs and Cs with no problem even though he was only 6'7' and 215 pounds.
Because I see he averages 17 points,14 rebounds along with 2 blocks and 2 steals.
Do we have a first round pick this year ?
Yep, we have a pick. Right now it would be a mid first rounder (17th to be exact). We will probably stay there. The Rockets have the right to swap picks with us, but that is unlikely since they are currently in the Lottery. We also have a second rounder.
Honestly, I haven't seen Faried play this year.
Draftexpress has him at #38 on their "Top 100 Prospects" list.
Draftexpress has him going to the Cavaliers with the 1st pick in the 2nd round. Normally I like Draftexpress but they have the Knicks picking Small Forward Jeff Taylor from Vanderbilt. That doesn't make sense at all.
NBADraft.net has Faried at #19 in the first round, with Denver picking him.
They are saying we will select Brandon Knight, once again, horrible pick IMO. We already have Toney Douglas.
