Default This team needs a shake up

While we may start slow every year and then have 2 ten game win streaks. Frank probably has to go. He has no idea how to manage the bench. This is why we lose evey playoff game in the 4th quarter. The starters are just too tired because Frank has no idea how to make subs and is petrified of Kidd not being on the floor.

Sometimes it will be Kidd on the floor with no Jefferson and no Carter. With RJ and VInce out, the best Frank will draw up is Kidd backing down a his man for 15 seconds and then kicking it out to one of the four other guys on the floor who can't shoot a lick. No more Williams and Kidd on the court at the same time. Give Eddie house some minutes. And hope Boone can be someone on the front line that will at least put his hands in the air to alter a inside shot rather than flop like Collins and Nenad.

That being said let's go get one in Detroit tonight

The only thing saving Frank's job is that horrible division. The Sixers are 5-17 and are only 4 games back! I don't think Frank's job is in jeopardy just yet. Rod Thorn gave him the vote of confidence and I really believe they'll turn it around and go on one of their patented winning streaks. He won't get that contract extension after next year though.

see, this is why i'm glad the average fan is not in charge of basketball decisions. among all the problems head coaches have, bench management is arguably the easiest thing to fix. even if frank does have a strong problem in this area (and by all evidence he's made progress on it this year), the most rational decision is to have the GM and the president get together with him first and say "you need to start playing the backups more or else". and if he refuses to cooperate, THEN you can fire him.

the average fan is always ready to fire a coach and make goofy trades all season long with little regard for the consequences. you hear it in all major sports. every time a team goes into a slump, joe genius fan is ready to tear the team apart and start all over.

one of the biggest mistakes is saying "fire this coach and bring in this other coach", thinking that all the areas the old coach was strong in will magically remain untouched and that you'll somehow wind up with an amalgam of the best of the new coach and the old coach. haha, if only it were true. coaches like adelman, the browns, tomjanovich, o'brien, issel and others all have their strengths and weaknesses and all were fired or burned out for various problems.

so you want to get rid of one set of problems and take on another set of problems, hoping that it will be the quick fix necessary to jump start the team this year. sorry, but it rarely works that way. it does work when a group of players are pissed off at the current coach and have a lot of angry energy stored up which they can then take out on the court, but it never lasts. all you usually wind up doing is spending at least another year getting your new system in place and getting the right mix of players together.

owners around the league are constantly learning this lesson, or at least they should be.
