Default The "back in the day" Thread

Just like the title says peeps.

Since there isn't any basketball, and the forum needs to stay alive, lets go back and have some laughs from the past from the Knicks board.

Pull a quote from the past that sounds hilarious or ridiculous, or maybe something that you or someone else was "money" on.

Anything is fair game on the board, so let's take it with fun and be sensitive.

I'll start.......

This came from the KG to the Knicks thread back in 2006.....

He could have demanded that Minny keep that team together at all cost. he didn't. He is used to losing, that's why. He is so used to losing he really wants to be reunited with Marbury. I love my Knicks. Please Zeke stay away from the longtime loser, K.G.!

He just doesn't feel like it.

and as Zaza points out, the Knicks will still be WAY OVER the cap...

This has been your Knicks Neat-o Stat of the day.....

.

From the "new Knicks head Coach is Mike D'antoni " thread

Avery would not fit for the Knicks at all. He is better suited for a team who has been together for awhile and plays good team defense.

Jackson brings nothing to a rebuilding situation.

1)D'antoni brings credibility.

2)He has an entertaining system that fans will like to see when Donnie puts a group together that suits him.

So Donnie has done a win-win move ultimately to keep the fans content even though the loses may pile up.

Now lets watch who will be the GM. It will be someone who isn't scared to deal anyone on the team.

D'antoni needs a few things on a team to be successful......
1)The play-making PG.
(TJ Ford would fit the bill)
2) The high-flyer. (Balkman) Yup they need more. Wonder if J-Rich is available. I really would go out and ressurect Gerald Green's career.
3) The 3pt shooter/defensive guy.
(Q-Rich right now/Nate at the moment). Personally I would call up Memphis and Orchestrate a Q/Nate for Mike Miller and Crit.

Right now the pieces don't fit. The Knicks entire frontline should be dealt, if that's possible.

Best believe the best-available atheletic player will be drafted regardless of position.

In essence I like the signing. I do hope that Donnie encourages D' to bring in some defensive mind to his coaching staff, since we all know that isn't his strength.

If Lee is our best Knick, no wonder we find ways to lose.

and this one..... man I hated dude back in the day......

This is based on how the teams look on paper. Feel free to comment or make changes.

Note on the Heat. I think they take a big step back words. D Wade will play as an all star but they havent added much like the other teams have in the east. But the Heat have a great young nucleus of players with Mario Chalmers (who can forget Marios Miracle) and Micheal Beasly, who was as good as Blake Griffin in collage.

Richard Hamilton
Tayshaun Prince
Rodney Stuckey
Will Bynum
Kwame Brown

All solid players who play good basketball.

Now add Ben Gordon Ben Wallace Charlie Villanueva Chris Wilcox Austin Daye and DaJaun Summers....leaving you with this.

11 players who are simply solid players. They have very little problems on the team and thats why I think they can claim the 4 spot in the east.

I put Toronto at 6 but they improved well too and the Atlantic division can very well be a battle between them and the Celtics. Im excited to see what happens.

For the record these are the actual standings for that year.

1. Cleveland Cavaliers 61 21 .744 - x
2. Orlando Magic 59 23 .720 2 x
3. Atlanta Hawks 53 29 .646 8 x
4. Boston Celtics 50 32 .610 11 x
5. Miami Heat 47 35 .573 14 x
6. Milwaukee Bucks 46 36 .561 15 x
7. Charlotte Bobcats 44 38 .537 17 x
8. Chicago Bulls 41 41 .500 20 x
9. Toronto Raptors 40 42 .488 21
10. Indiana Pacers 32 50 .390 29
11. New York Knicks 29 53 .354 32
12. Detroit Pistons 27 55 .329 34
13. Philadelphia 76ers 27 55 .329 34
14. Washington Wizards 26 56 .317 35
15. New Jersey Nets 12 70 .146 49

I was WAY off with Detroit, and LMAO at the Wizards.
