Let say Orlando Magics are serious about trading Dwight Howard, i think Raptors are one of the top contenders to get him, If Dwight is willing to come here with the young core! I dont think any other team can offer something better than the rights to Jonas Val (his stock is high now, some GM's consider him 1st overall worthy), Andrea Bargnani,Amir Johnson and maybe a couple of first rounders (top 5 protected). But that is ofcourse Dwight agrees to a contract extension, which i dont see happening.
Can't see him ever wanting to come here. He loves being in the spotlight and being the center of attention. That simply won't be the case in Toronto. We do have some solid young pieces to move though, if Orlando was looking for a rebuild, but don't hold your breath.
But that being said, if we have to move to many of our young pieces to get Dwight, what incentive does he have to come here? None. All our building blocks would be gone.
The best package we can offer is Derozan, Davis, Amir, Valanciunas and Barbosa as a expirer, take Turkoglus contract and Duhon and Richardson with the Bosh exception.
Then we have
Calderon / Duhon
free agent / Richardson
Turkoglu / JJohnson
Bargnani / Kleiza
Howard / Alabi
It is a better team than Toronto will probably have in many seasons, but not good enough for Howard to resign... and we know that Calderon and Turkoglu don't play well together...
i dont think its out of line at all to think the raptors have great trade packages that could get a big name talent in return. I dont think its dwight, but should be someone like amare, Rondo, or Nene

with those players u mentioned, getting them does not help us. its not like we will suddenly improve and content for the 1-6th spot in the east. So giving up a lot to get players of that level hurts us in the long run. Now unless its players like dwight, lebron, wade or even carmelo anthony....but again thats just being unrealistic.

That doesn't make any sense to me- you only would take a superstar, no other player or groups of players could make your team good enough to be worth it? I see where you are going a little with not wanting to improve just to the point of being mediocre but I think you are undervaluing the fact that a change could make the team a lot different- and different would be good

For example my favorite trade idea- tell me that an Amare/andre miller led team with some young talent around them (esp when JV shows up) wouldn't be a great direction to head
-
Raptors get Amare, andre miller (and give up Bargnani, calderon, kleiza, and Ed davis)
-
Knicks get Bargnani, Nene, Calderon, and kleiza (while giving up Billups(until cut and returned) Amare, and toney douglas)
-
Nuggets get Ed davis and t douglas and billups to cut ( for Nene and Andre miller)
-
When 2 teams get way better and a 3rd gets what they want (saving money + 2 young players) how can it not be good- some say Ny wouldn't (but that is ridiculous to not see how bargnani and nene together at barely more than amare wouldn't be a great deal and how taking on salary could be a lot worse than taking 2 players that fit nys system so perfectly in calderon and kleiza) - toronto would get cap flexibility and a star big and a pg all basically for bargnani, davis, and 2 "bad contracts"
-

So maybe its not that trade but there really aren't tradeS that don't net the raptors a lebron or carmelo type that would be great for the organization? That is called over valuing your exiting talent if you would trade players off a bad team for proven bigtime nba players
