CHICAGO· Second-year forward Wayne Simien said Wednesday he is optimistic he soon will be able to return to the active roster.
Simien has been out since late November, dealing with a recurrence of a Salmonella infection that first struck during last season's playoffs.

"I can't really put a timetable on it, but I don't think it'll be too much longer," he said.
Simien was hospitalized nine days during the offseason. He returned for the start of the season, but has not played since Nov. 22.
"I haven't lost too much weight," he said of the latest recurrence, before watching his teammates face the Bulls at the United Center. "This summer I lost close to 30 pounds. But it hasn't nearly been as bad. I lost about four pounds, but my appetite's starting to come back."
Simien expects to hear soon from the specialists he recently visited at New York. The hope is antibiotics have knocked out the infection.
"Hopefully we'll be able to resolve this soon without any type of procedure," he said

Been battling that Salmonella since this past summer. We need another young player to assert himself as Wright and Kapano has done as of recent. Simien can play, he just hasn't had the greatest oppritunity yet.
