Default AFC Playoff Picture

NE, Hou, Balt and Pit are locks for the playoffs so that leaves two spots open for 5 teams.

1 Spot is going to the AFC West Division champ while the 2nd place team joins 3 other teams for the final playoff spot.

Denver Schedule:
14 vs Chicago
15 vs New England
16 @ Buffalo
17 vs Kansas City
6-3 AFC record, 1-1 vs. Oakland, 1-0 vs. New York, 0-1 vs. Tennessee

Cincinnati Schedule:
14 vs Houston
15 @ St. Louis
16 vs Arizona
17 vs Baltimore
6-4 AFC record, 1-0 vs. Tennessee

Tennessee Schedule:
14 vs New Orleans
15 @ Indianapolis
16 vs Jacksonville
17 @ Houston
5-4 AFC record, 0-1 vs. Cincinnati, 1-0 vs. Denver

Oakland Schedule:
14 @ Green Bay
15 vs Detroit
16 @ Kansas City
17 vs San Diego
5-5 AFC record, 1-1 vs. Denver, 1-0 vs. New York

New York Schedule:
14 vs Kansas City
15 @ Philadelphia
16 vs NY Giants
17 @ Miami
5-5 AFC record, 0-1 vs Oakland and Denver

I see Denver and Tennessee(slight homer pick) making it.

Denver is going to win the AFC west so that would be my 5th team. They are going to win the rest of their games IMO. They might lose to New England but even then I still think Denver will win that game since Brady's track record vs. Denver is poor.

Titans would have to beat either the Saints or the Texans to finish 10-6. I am not sure If like the chances with that. This is assuming they beat those other 2 teams since they are clearly inferior.

Bengals would have to beat either the Ravens or the Texans to finish 10-6. This is assuming they beat those other 2 teams since they are clearly inferior.

Titans may have a better chance at beating Houston than the Bengals do since they play on Week 17 and the Texans may not go all out especially with the share of injuries they have had the season. Also, the Cardinals and Rams are tougher teams to beat than the Colts and Jaguars.

I don't like the Jets' chances at all. They could easily lose the rest of their games. Oakland could easily lose 3 of their last 4.

So the Jets now have the inside track and control their own destiny. However, if they falter in one of their games that opens the door for Tennessee or Cincy but they need to win out(or have the Jets lose twice though it is unlikely). Luckily for those 2 teams they have winnable games the next few weeks but week 17 @ Houston and vs. Baltimore should be interesting match ups.

What a great day of football. Jets have a wild card spot for the time being. I'm worried about the Eagles next week though. I feel like their offense is just too fast for our defense to stop. We'll see though.

the next 3 game for the Jets can go either way. I want to say they need to win out but there is no guarantee that Cincy/Tenn reach 10 wins

Ugh the Titans blew a great opportunity to take advantage of the misfortune of others. Also with the entire AFC West still being alive it makes the Playoff picture murkier.

The Jets need to win out and their in
The Bengals need to win out plus a Jets loss
The Raiders can get in if they are in a multi team tie with the Jets
The Titans need to win out and the 3 above teams to lose 1
The Chargers can get in @ a multi team tie @ 9-7

and I haven't included the Broncos into the mix yet.

Wow nice timing for the Bengals.

Raiders, Broncos, Titans and Jets all lost and we won.

Now, let's hold out the Cardinals and then hopefully we'll face a Ravens team that has already clinched playoffs and they'll let us have an easy win.

Lets soak all of this in, as rarely does this Bengals team ever play meaningful December football.

This Arizona game makes me really nervous. They are a hot team, and many of the things they do well, we struggle with.

Of course, that whole cross country travel thing could be a factor as well.

The Bengals aren't playing their best football right now. Poor December play is a staple of Marvin Lewis coached teams. Time to break that trend.

If we can make the playoffs with a rookie QB, I'm going to be psyched!

Kansas City can still get in if they win out, Denver falls to Buffalo, and San Diego drops one of their last two games.

It would be nuts if the AFC West came down to Orton vs Tebow in the last game of the year.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Chargers got in. I don't think the Broncos are a shoe-in. They could easily lose their last 2 games

If the Chargers get in, they are at least making the conference championship game.

Definitely fit that "team no one wants to play" label.

Cincinnati can get in if they W
or
L + Ten L + Oak L + NYJ L
or
L + Oak W + Den L + Ten L + NYJ L

I can't think of any more scenarios for them

Tennessee gets in if the win plus Cin loss
plus Oak W, Jets L, Den W
or
Jets W, Oak L
or
Oak W, Jets W, Den
L

Oakland gets in Win Plus Den L
or
W + Cin L + Jets W
or
W + Cin L + Ten L

Jets get in
if they W + Cin L + Ten L + Den or Oak L

i think that covers everyone.
