Default Dallas Cowboys Offseason Thread

So many questions.

I was watching Mike & Mike this morning and they asked if "the Dallas talent wasn't everything we thought it was?". When you consider talents like Dez Bryant and Miles Austin were the 2nd and 3rd best WR's this year (Laurent Robinson has been an absolute monster), their offense shouldn't struggle that way.

Dez Bryant - Why does he disappear late in games?

1st Half - 37 catches/558/7 TD's
2nd Half - 25 catches/344/2 TD's

Newman/Sensebaugh/Jenkins/Ball/Elam....do any of these guys deserve to start on an NFL team anymore? If so, are any of them any better than "average"?

Rob Ryan...he started off hot. On Mike & Mike they mentioned how the cameras show him during games more often than the head coach. Then they mentioned his past success. In '06 he had the 3rd ranked defense. Every other year? No better than 22nd. And I believe a year of 32nd and a year of 31st. This year Dallas had the 14th ranked D and that was his highest since '06. Is he overrated as a coordinator? Just not as good as his brother and dad? Does his mouth negatively affect his team?

Through the first 9 games of the year the D gave up 20 ppg, nearly 24 ppg over the last 7.

^That guy. Do you want him back? Do you think Jerry brings him back? What realistic coaching options would you prefer over him, knowing that bringing in a new coach will require an adjustment period?

What free agents would you like to target? What draft picks/positions are you looking at with the #14 pick?

It seems that O-line and secondary are the weak points of that team, especially the secondary. They need to get some linemen and get the running game going to control the game and take less pressure off of Romo. That secondary has getting burnt for years now, Newman is old, Jenkins has been garbage for a while and the other guys are no names. Their front 7 is pretty good(Ware, Lee, Ratliff, Spencer, etc)

Truthfully if they didn't collapse in some of the games this year(1st NYG, Arizona, NYJ, etc) they could have probably won the division.

After a full off season the young offensive line should come back stronger.

The lack of running back depth needs to be addressed. Banking on Demarco Murray to come back 100% and not adding a mid-round pick at tailback is a recipe for disaster.

I'd also like to see an upgrade at fullback.

The secondary needs an overhaul. It has been a sore spot for years.

The Cowboys haven't spent a 1st rounder on a safety since Darren Woodson. An improvement to the pass rush is also needed.

It can't be Demarcus Ware or bust. Anthony Spencer should be allowed to walk.

Kenyon Coleman also needs to be replaced at DE.

My friend (cowboys fan) says he wants Norv Turner to come back as OC. 20 years since he was OC in Dallas. Thoughts?

Terence Newman. The veteran corner might have played his last game with the Cowboys. It was a bad performance which ended with him getting checked for a concussion. He struggled in man and zone coverage and just didn't play with much confidence. He doesn't have the speed to keep up with Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks. He was inconsistent in open field tackling.

Jenkins was good this year, but MIA due to injury half the year...he is a keeper though

Newman is "average"...he was good some games, not good others

They should contact ESPN and every other major sporting news outlet and ask them kindly for one year not to overhype this team so Goddamn much.

EVERY F*CKING YEAR we hear about how great they are gonna be, how they have the kind of team that can win in December this time etc...etc...etc...

They are not a good team, they are are weak in key areas, and the inevitable disappointing season, because of being over-hyped, is as predictable as the changing of the leaves.

Yeah The Cowboys weren't The Dream Team this year. In fact on this board, the consensus was that The Cowboys were going to miss the playoffs.
