Some of it is simply due to the Clippers making their shots with their efficient offense. The more shots you miss, the more offensive rebounds you can get to add to your rebound rate.
The Clippers are just fine. Their defense has been fine the past week and the rebounding is not really a problem. They don't have any real weaknesses like the Lakers do (bench, outside shooting, only good ballhandler Kobe has injured wrist, etc.).
Well defensively they are not so strong, meaning that other teams can probably score on them, which limits their opportunities to grab boards. Usually one player has to contest a shot while other teammates crash boards. If nobody is playing defense, because they're all to busy trying to get the rock from CP3 at the other end, what do you expect? lol
Although I do admit that I think DJ plays very good defense. Didn't he have 6 blocks against the heat? Not bad. Not bad at all. Griffin is an offensive minded player, so DJ may need to step up bigger and get those underrated rebounds and defensive plays. Then you might see a change in rebounding stats.
Codt and Lakersfreak are both right. It's a combination of two things.
1. The bad defense is allowing such high field goal shooting from opponents that there isn't a lot of rebounds.
2. The Clippers are so efficient offensively that offensive rebounding isn't possible at a high rare.
By the end of the season they will probably be top 10-15 ish.. just like I expect their D to be. They obviously got a big boost from Reggie Evans and once they rotation is perfect... they numbers will all start climbing.
I knew the Clippers were gonna out rebound the Lakers tonight despite being 29th in the league. Lakers played decent defense, Kobe struggled in the 1st half but played better in the 2nd half. Gasol and Bynum sucked tonight. Only Kobe and that Darius Morris kid showed up.
DJ goes for so many blocks they give up a lot of boards. He is jumping for blocks a little bit less the most recent games.
Reggie Evans has improved the boarding a lot. Interesting to see how the rebounding ranks 1 months from now.
the clippers didn't look bad on the boards tonight. they were out hustling the lakers for the 50/50 loose balls. maybe they just put in a little more effort tonight, but they will definitely improve their ranking as the season progresses.
