I don't see why not.... they play in a pretty shitty division, so there's no reason to not at least make the playoffs next year

We are young. Plus if we actually get some receivers that can get open and depth at the punt return spot, we will have a legit chance to win it all.

Ye they should be. WR position is the biggest weakness and the easiest one to address. I think a loss like this will make them hungrier. We'll see........

they will be back for sure. great teams are built on a solid defense, and that's what they have. can they make the next step with Alex Smith? possibly. they had their chances tonight. should they look for a replacement at QB? sure. I don't know where to start for the 49ers to make that next step. They look as good as it is.

Nothing is a given, they had everything go right for them this year with playoff seeding and matchups.

there are no guarantees in football unless you have a brady or rodgers or brees on your team. even the giants have stunk it up since they last won the super bowl, and they have a very good foundation and great coaching

When you have a defense like that, it's as good as having a great quarterback to stable your franchise and guide them to consistent success.
