Default The 90s Team Tournament (Finals)

I am going to do a tournament. And We'll see who is the best team of the 90s

I am only going to do all this once, so winner takes all.

I am using the Whatifsports.com Simulator. It simulates matchups of teams past and present, VERY accurate, and even has a boxscore so I'll tell you how the key players played.

Whos in it? 16 Teams...Best out of 7 like the playoffs would be

Teams are seeded by

1. Champions 1st
2. Finals Losers 2nd
3. Farthest into playoffs 3rd

And those 3 are broken up by records...And only 1 francise per decade

The Teams from the East:

1. 96 Bulls
2. 90 Pistons
3. 95 Magic
4. 94 Knicks
5. 97 Heat
6. 98 Pacers
7. 92 Cavaliers
8. 97 Hawks

The Teams from the West:

1. 99 Spurs
2. 95 Rockets
3. 97 Jazz
4. 96 Sonics
5. 93 Suns
6. 90 Blazers
7. 91 Lakers
8. 91 Warriors

I'll post ALL game results in ISH.

Get Ready!

Any Questions?

1st Round Matchups:

Best out of 7

East:

96 Bulls vs. 97 Hawks
Might be a nice matchup...Hawks were loaded in 97, finished with 56 wins, and had players like Dikembe, Steve Smith, Blaylock...But Jordan and the Bulls were loaded

96 Bulls WIN series 4-0

90 Pistons vs. 92 Cavaliers-The Bad Boys vs. one of the more underrated teams of all-time...The Cavs were pretty good in 1992, had guys like Mark Price, Brad Daugthrey, etc. But the Bad Boys were the Bad Boys, led by Isiah...

90 Pistons win series 4-2

95 Magic vs. 98 Pacers-Hardaway and Shaq vs. Reggie and the Pacers...Interesting matchups, will anybody in the Pacers be able to stop Shaq and Penny?

95 Magic win series 4-1

94 Knicks vs. 97 Heat-Ewing vs. Mourning...The Knicks at their best, and Mourning and Hardaway's Heat at their peak (61-21)...Maybe the best matchup...

97 Heat win series 4-2

West:

99 Spurs vs. 91 Warriors- The Twin towers vs. the Big 3 of Golden State...Duncan and Robinson made up one of the best PF/C ever...And the Warriors had great PG/SG/SF...Led by Hardaway/Richmond/Mullin...might be a nice series...

99 Spurs win series 4-1

95 Rockets vs. 91 Lakers- Already you can see the west matchups are tougher...Hakeem/Drexler Rockets vs. Magic's Lakers...Magic was still great then and he had Worthy too...

95 Rockets win series 4-1

97 Jazz vs. 90 Blazers- Another great matchup...Stockton and Malone, at one of their best times go head to head vs. Drexler, Porter and the loaded Blazers of 90...Good matchup right here...

97 Jazz win series 4-2

96 Sonics vs. 93 Suns- Another excellent matchup...Payton/Kemp vs. KJ/Barkley...That will decide this matchup the whole way...good one to watch

96 Sonics win series 4-3

Semi-Finals

EAST

96 Bulls vs. 97 Heat-
- Both teams did well 1st round. The Bulls sweeped 1st round, and the Heat won in 6 vs. New York 1st round...Now they face off...Bulls are favorite...Who will stop Jordan/Pippen/Rodman...Though the Heat do have their Hardaway/Mourning combo, but will it be enough?

96 Bulls win series 4-1

90 Pistons vs. 95 Magic
- Pistons won a pretty good series vs. the Cavs in 6...Magic dominated Indiana and won in 5 games...Who will win this one? Pistons had a tough time stopping Center Daugtrey, what will Shaq do to them? Penny and Shaq both did well...The Isiah and Penny matchup will be good...Good series coming up

95 Magic win series 4-2

WEST

99 Spurs vs. 96 Sonics- Champion Spurs easily beat the worst team in tournament 4-1. While the Sonics went vs. the toughest underdog seed and beat them in a big game 7. Now they face off...Kemp vs. Duncan will be a good matchup. Both teams can play good defense. Sonics should good offense vs. Suns....Probably will be a close series

96 Sonics win series 4-2

95 Rockets vs. 97 Jazz- Rockets cruised past the 1st round 4 games to 1 vs. LA...The Jazz after trailing 2-1 vs. Portland, won 3 in a row...And now they face off...Drexler/Olajuwon vs. Stockton/Malone will be the matchup to watch...Who will win it? Who will dominate the paint, Malone or Olajuwon? Good matchup, and will be a good series

95 Rockets win series 4-3

Confrence Finals

EAST:

96 Bulls vs. 95 Magic- The Bulls have been dominating so far. Sweeping the Hawks in 4 games and then beating the Heat in 5 games. The Magic have also been pretty good so far. Beating the 98 Pacers in 5 games and then beating a defending champion 90 Pistons in 6 games. Shaq has been huge so far and the Bulls have been solid all around. The Magic beat the Bulls in 95, and the Bulls beat the Magic in 96. Now they face. 96 Bulls vs. 95 Magic Eastern Confrence Finals

96 Bulls win series 4-2

WEST:

95 Rockets vs. 96 Sonics- The Rockets beat the 91 Lakers in 5 games in the 1st round. The next round they had a lot of trouble and had to give it their best to beat the 97 Jazz in 7 games. The 96 Sonics had their trouble in the 1st round against the 93 Suns which they beat them in 7 games. Next round they faced defending champions 99 Spurs, they defeated them also in 6 games. Now the 95 Rockets face the 96 Sonics. Drexler/Hakeem were able to defeat Stockton/Malone but now they have to face Payton/Kemp. It will be another interesting series. Coming up...

95 Rockets win series 4-3

NBA FINALS

96 Bulls vs. 95 Rockets- The Finals are finally here. The Bulls have had a relatively easy run to get here. They swept the Hawks in the 1st round, lost only 1 vs. Miami, and lost 2 games vs. Orlando. Houston had a easy time round 1 vs. the L.A. Lakers. But both the Jazz and the Sonics took the Rockets to Game 7. Houston won both times. And now they face off. Jordan/Pippen vs. Hakeem/Drexler will be main attraction. Jordan and Drexler WILL be guarding each other. So good matchup there. Hakeem hopes to dominate the Bulls inside and give the only hope for the Rockets to have a chance. Pippen hopes he will not be contained. The Rockets have had a tough time guarding PFs as Malone and Kemp both lead their teams and made it to 7 games vs. Houston. The Bulls had some problems with Shaq last game, hope they will be able to stop houston

1996 Chicago Bulls Win 4-2

I'll just add the rest of my predictions as I probably won't be around for the games (time zones an' all):

Bulls - Heat: Bulls

Pistons - Magic: Magic

Bulls - Magic: Bulls

Spurs - Lakers: Spurs

Jazz - Sonics: Jazz

Spurs - Jazz: Jazz

For the mindboggling repeat final of Bulls versus Jazz, which due to an incredible effort by Stockton and Malone and an inprobable buzzer beater by Hornaceck is won by the Jazz in seven!

Well, one can dream. Good night everybody.

Game 1

97 Hawks at 96 Bulls

Final Score: at Bulls 108, Hawks 91

Player of the Game: S.Pippen 10/17 26pts 9reb 7ast 2stl 2blk

Bulls shot a great 50% from the field while holding the Hawks down to 39% with their great defense...The Hawks did pound the Bulls in the offensive glass the 1st game, outrebounding 19 to 9...Led by Mutombo's 13 and Laetner's 14....Rodman was only good rebounder for Chicago with 14reb...Jordan went 9/16 21pts 6reb and 5ast...Tyronne Coblin will be guarding him whole series...

Close game at half time, with Chicago leading 51-45, but the Bulls pulled away in the 3rd, and took a 83-63 lead at end of 3rd...

Mookie was also decent with 18pts 9ast on 6/15 shooting,
and Steve Smith added 19pts on 8/17 shooting against Jordan's D...Mutombo added 4blks and 3steals with his 13reb, and Rodman did a good job on Laetner holding him to 12pts

96 Bulls Lead Series 1-0

I feel the 91 Blazers were better than the 90 or 92 teams.
