On Draft Night 2005, there was a debate about who the Nets should take at #15. Some in the war room that night wanted the Nets to take 18-year-old Gerald Green. Instead the debate came down to Antoine Wright and Joey Graham and the Nets ultimately took Wright.
The Nets will finally take their chance on Green. Multiple sources, including Green's agent, are reporting New Jersey will sign Green Monday, two days after a staggering display of athleticism won him the MVP award at the D-League All-Star Game. The 6'8" small forward, now 26 has played this season with the L.A. Defenders, having previously played for the Celtics, Timberwolves, Rockets, Mavericks and Lakers, as well as teams in Russia, China and the D-League.
Although a great athlete (and winner of the 2007 NBA Slam Dunk Contest), Green has often had problems with his coaches ... and channeling his athletic talents into basketball skills.
Not sure what to think of this signing, hopefully playing with a great passer like D-Will can elevate his game.
I see him staying. He is very talented. decent scorer and gives the Nets a forward! I'm tired of seeing all the Nets sgs defending sfs. I can see him sneaking into the rotation. IIRC He requested a trade from the t-wolves after he was included with the celtics package for KG. So he may not be the smartest player but he can ball.

I enjoyed watching Greald Green play last night. It's been a while since we had someone that athletic in a Nets uniform. With his athleticism and quickness he should try and be a defensive stopper. His scoring will be there at 8+ ppg, but if he can buckle down on defense it would benefit us so much.
