In 00-01, Carter was clearly the best player out of the four in the rumoured deal, a top 5 player overall and a huge marketing machine.
I can't blame the Raptors for not doing this deal. Unless you are a psychic or a really good guesser, you could not have foreseen Carter's injury and laziness issues later on. Also, it was so long ago that I don't care one bit about this. A totally different era for the Raptors that is irrelevant to the team right now.
I also heard that the Lakers offered Kobe Bryant for Vinsanity during the same time. We can all moan and bitch about having the hindsight of the results of both their careers, but at that time Vince was a God in Toronto. I can completely understand them for refusing that deal and even if we did, Kobe would probably not want to report to the team and take the first opening out of town.
Funny how some of the so called Raptors fans forget how good Carter used to be.
Back then, trading a very high valued superstar and a proven big man for a potential shooting big man and a capable point guard...... unless you are crazy or you just came back from 2010-11 with a time machine, nobody won't do that.
Would've been nice in hindsight. But hindsight is always 20/20. Nobody in their right mind back then would have made that trade. It's like offering Calderon and Bargnani for LeBron today.
no one would have done that trade at that time. Vince was a god and the next MJ. No one would have traded Vince Carter at that time. Cant blame the raps.
no one saw how far vince would fall and no one expected Nash and Dirk to be who they are today.
