Re: ISH: Do you think they should postpone the Knicks-Nets opener?
in my opinion they should do everything they can to keep it going. sports takes people's minds off the horrible things, and in the past has worked as a great cure. if they can get the transit systems enough to where they can safely transport fan to and from the stadium then they have to give it a go.

Yes.
A lot of people who have already paid for tickets won't be able to go. So either you deal with that mess, or you postpone the game which shouldn't be a problem since they are both NY teams.

So you are going to disappiont millions of people who want to watch the game on TV because of the few thousand that can't get to the game?
The Nets should reimburse any ticket holders who can't get to the game.....and maybe league picks up part of the tab for Brooklyn. But don't cancel the game.....people will find ways to get there.

If it's safe, have the game. Business helps the recovery process, there are a lot of vendors, bars, shops, etc. that make more money when these games are played.

The game will still be played of course, so the million who want to watch it won't lose anything.

The Nets' grand plan for a nationally televised opening night sell-out crowd to launch Barclays Center seems threatened, if not doomed, as the city tries to recover from a devastating attack from the sea. Hurricane Sandy has shut down the city's subways and Long Island Railroad which would bring the majority of fans to the game.
The NBA. was evaluating the situation Tuesday as New York began to recover from the storm, Howard Beck reports.
"Tonight’s games will be played," Tim Frank, the N.B.A.’s senior vice president for communications, told Beck in an e-mail. "We are still assessing the situation with regards to the rest of the week."
There is no timetable for a decision, but with Mayor Michael Bloomberg saying the subways could be down for "four of five days." As much as 75 percent of the crowd is expected to arrive by mass transit, either the subway or LIRR. In addition, it's uncertain when most of the metropolitan area will see power return.
