Nuggets do it because Wilson Chandler has no role or future in Denver with their current personnel of too many swingmen. They have to get under the luxury tax before next season so someone has to be sacrificed. Nuggets have no true SG on their roster, Morrow isn't getting playing time on the Hawks but has been a solid starter the last 3 seasons in Golden State & New Jersey. Nuggets lack a spot shooter, Morrow is a spot shooter.
Hawks do it because they need a true SF to defend the perimeter allowing Smith to play full time at PF. Chandler can be a productive #3 or #4 option in Atlanta playing the same role of Marvin Williams, except being a better offensive player.
As a Knick fan, I am going to overrate my boy Ill Will.
See him as a 15/5 kind of guy in his natural position at SF, and he is young enough to turn his career around after basically 2 1/2 lost seasons in Denver so far.
Would love to bring him back to MSG somehow but we dont have the contracts to get it done.

Chandler is a good player - but the Hawks are guard heavy - Teague, Williams, Harris, Stevenson, Korver. So that means John Jenkins is getting no run.
Jenkins is kind of suffering what Teague had to suffer in his first two years - getting no run. And it's going to retard his growth, like it has for Teague.
Adding Chandler isn't going to do anything to get Jenkins more minutes.
And giving up a first in addition? Too much.
Chandler would be good for other teams - Orlando, Cleveland, but he wouldn't be a good fit for the Hawks. Really Chandler would be great for the Lakers, but no way is Denver going to help out LA.
Also, I would rather the Hawks spend 5-6 million per year on finally adding another big. Samuel Dalembert will be a free agent, and he would be great to help out Al and Zaza at center.

What the hell are you talking about? They're guard heavy, so you trade a guard for a SF and you finally have a SF...please don't tell me you think that Chandler is a SG.
This deal is highway robbery for the Hawks...the Nuggets have so many assets that maybe they don't care. But it's huge for Atlanta.

I think hawkfan thinks Wilson Chandler is a SG, a 6'8 220lb one at that.
With their respective ages I'd love to see a frontline of:
Small Forward: Chandler (25)
Power Forward: Smith (27)
Center: Horford (26)
Now that the Hawks have finally found a PG in Teague and a 6th Man in Louis Williams. Just have to keep adding solid veteran depth and maybe they might break through one season and reach the ECF. Miami wont be on top for that long and who knows what happens with the Knicks.

I would rather the Hawks spend that money on a center (Samuel Dalembert will be a free agent) and draft a wing, rather than the reverse.
But you never know what will happen in the summer.

I like hawkfan but he is too obsessed with bigs...pass on Chandler to look forward to Samuel Dalembert...not the way to go
