Would Michael Jordan have become the greatest if there was no Phil Jackson?
With the talk about Gregg Popovich and Phil Jackson on the board recently, it got me thinking. Phil Jackson was the common factor in the in championships of Jordan's Bulls team and Shaq's/Kobe's Lakers teams. I wonder how much the career of a player is affected by the effectiveness of the coach.
If Jordan was coached by a mediocre coach, would he have become the greatest player of his generation? If Phil really is the greatest ever in his role he may deserve credit for helping molding MJ become who he his.
Many questions
Would the Bulls have one all those championships?
If Shaq hadn't become a Laker under Phil would he have won championships?
Would Kobe be the legend he is, would the Lakers have won if Phil wasn't there?
Would Pippen be HOF? Would Rodman be?
This is why you need a good coach.
